Annual Pay Increases

My company just handed out our "merit" increases. I am really kind of disgusted with this. I have always worked for smaller companies who gave accoring to the "year" most of the time very generously. This company is terrible. What % do people normally get? and does anyone know what % cost of living is today? TIA

Re: Annual Pay Increases

We get a 5% increase each year, JT only gets a 4% increase each year. Both would be fine, but 5% and 4% of not much=not much.

Re: Annual Pay Increases

I thnk the average increase is 3%, if you don't work for a company that gives generous or merit based increases.

Re: Annual Pay Increases

i seen avgs closer to 2%...but 3 is more avg as 4 to 5 percent is generous for large scale companies.

DH and I both work for non-profits and automatically get a lousy 3% raise. However, I hear many private companies don't even give annual raises.

Re: Annual Pay Increases

Lots of companies don't give raises. Since I work for a partnership, it depends on how well the business did the previoous year with regard to salary increases and bonuses.

I was lucky this year and my Senior Managing Partner gave me 6%.

I work for a very much FOR profit and I also get a measly 3%. There is no merit based increase, which I find totally bogus since I DOUBLED the sales goal last year Chat Icon

I worked for a private company for years and we got raises every year - really good ones too if you worked hard. Then we got taken over by this gi-normous public company (went from 144 employees to 7,000 Chat Icon) and, well, here we are at 3% Chat Icon

Re: Annual Pay Increases

At my last company, the average was 2%. Now I'm self-employed, so depending on how I do this year, maybe next year I'll give myself a raise Chat Icon

Everyone gets 3% a year regardless of performance. I would LOVE a merit increase. Why do I work so hard for nothing?

I got 7% the first year and it has been going down gradually as my salary increases. Last year it was 5.5%. I think they want to keep me below a magic number.

Re: Annual Pay Increases

my increases are based on performance. Also, I work for a bonus-driven company. We don't get huge increases, but our bonus increases each year. This year I received my highest increase and bonus. I have been here for 5 years. My increase was 7.5% I normally get 2 or 3%

Re: Annual Pay Increases

i work for a teeny tiny company.
for the 1st two years I got no salary increase at all- with modest bonus/incentive.
Then last July I got a 11.5% raise and then this past month I got a 7.5% raise.
