I did a stupid thing tonight...Can anyone make me feel better about it?
Let me preface this by saying I am in a terrible mood and PMSing...
So its 1:30am and the jerk who lives below me is having a party and his music is so loud that my floors and bed were vibrating. I tried banging a few times and no change. Mind you the music was so loud in my apt. that standing outside my door it sounded like I was playing the music loud!
So, without thinking, I called the precinct and complained. They sent a cop and the guy below me was extremely angry. I doubt the cop told him it was me upstairs but I think he knew...and was saying bad stuff...i could hear everything.
So now, I am so upset and scared. I should have just dealt with it, but it was so loud and obnoxious, and I was so mad and tired. I just hope this doesn't cause problems in the future. I just dont understand, because i try to be so considerate of my neighbors and I guess i just expect the same in return.
I should have thought more before I acted

I think its a shame that people dont have respect for others and that you had to do this in the first place. I understand why your worried but HE was wrong! Hopefully there will be no problems but honestly, I would have done the same!

if he confronts you, i would just say i was really sick and couldnt get out of bed, or else i would have just come down there myself (or something like that). i wouldnt beat myself up over it though- its not like they arrested him or anything, he was probably just annoyed for a little bit, and then went back to his party.

I can totally relate to you right now. The reason I am up so late is because the young guys above me are so loud. I can not take it anymore. I want to start banging on the ceiling.
It amazes me how people are so unaware of their actions especially living in an apartment building.

Thanks for the support girls. You are totally right...he is the one at fault. Maybe I should have gone down and said something first but I didnt. I always obsess about stuff....can you tell.

ETA: It's most likely that he was a bit drunk, so that may have added to his reaction a bit. I'm sure once he's nice and sober this morning, he'll come to his senses a bit

You know what, if I was you, a woman who lives above a MAN, I wouldn't go down there and confront him myself! NEVER. Who knows what he would do. I DEFINITELY think you did the right thing. If he says anything to you, tell him it wasn't you. Screw him, he doesn't need to know it was you.

I agree! You did the right thing! Ive been in your shoes before and ended up calling mgmt several times. The people below us were ridiculous! I wouldnt be surprised if you lived in my own apt. I could have typed this story myself.

I think that you definitely did the right thing. If things get worse, and you have to keep calling the cops on him, at least you have everything on record.
