DH wouldn't get anything either. I think I am just going to be lazy this year and buy everyone flowers the day of.  I just can't be bothered searching around for the perfect gift for everyone.

Me too! my MIL's b-day was the other day and he forgot her b-day. When I asked him if I should send her something he said no, she's only 79! Like it matters if it's a big birthday or not!

MIL doesn't like or want gifts. She also wouldn't want to go out for brunch. She prefers for things like Mother's Day and her birthday to not even be acknowledged so we don't get her anything.

Yup! I am running out of ideas, too.  Past gifts have been:
-a coach wristlet
-flowers
-plants
-chocolate covered strawberries
-baskets of bath stuff
-broadway tickets
-gc's to barnes and nobles, mani/pedi

I don't want people to get me extravagant things but a card & something small is nice.

She's definitely not the typical woman/mom. She'd prefer DH not even call to wish her a Happy Mother's Day or Happy Birthday. She's also bipolar and pretty eccentric so that could have something to do with it.

We normally take her to brunch with one of DH's Sisters, but I realized yesterday I bought tix to the Yankee game for DH for Christmas....
I'm sure in her mind she will think that I planned this....

I get a card for her and my husband gets his own card for her as well. I buy a gift from both of us.

Normally, DH would do something for her but this year, he'll be in the middle of finals and he won't have the time. I think that I'll just send her flowers from the both of us and be done with it.

this year, both mom's are getting flowers. they have everything they could possibly want. and they both love flowers.

Yeah, that's pretty much how we are. I asked if he wanted me to pick up a card for her, b/c I was getting one for my mother, but he said no, b/c he doesn't do cards.
So. . ok, then. Who am I to mess with family traditions?

My MIL would never get a birthday, Christmas or Mother's Day gift if it weren't for me. But I honestly don't mind. First off I love her, and second of all, any excuse to shop is good enough for me.

If I left it to FH it would nothing. If we do get her something, we pick it out together. Last year we weren;t talking to FMIL, so this year we need to come up with something.
