i will say the same thing from LIW...
why is this funny?

I know? Ok, everyone is entitled to their own opinions..and that's cool. But not everyone can afford to get married in lavish places. Hello they just bought a house. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

if i had to do it all over again, i would of done a house at cut my wedding back ... not to the scale of a fast food resturant but cut back.

a house is a long term investment...a wedding well last less then 12 hours. i live in a co-op when probally i can be in a house now if it wasn't for our wedding. don't get me wrong, i love my wedding/planning/being on tv bit now, i see other dreams not coming true now.

you just don't do things cause you have to..you do things cause you want to.
they wanted to and i give them mad respect for letting the world know about it.

is it funny, no, its different...to be different is not to be funny cause you can't envision it yourself doing that different thing.... live a little and try something different once in your life...you might like it Chat Icon

Re: Looking for a hall?

i don't see anything wrong with it either. whatever floats their boat and works for them! more power to 'em!

but i don't see WHY SOME people need to explain why they think it's FUNNY to see a wedding reception take place at a McDonalds!!

TO ME, it IS funny!!!!! Funny in a sense that it's not something you see everyday! quirky! different!

i don't see why some people have to get so defensive!!????

Maybe because some people on this site had their wedding at KFC, got married by the colonel, and haven't admitted it yet. Chat Icon

I think it is great that they got married at McDonalds - I worked there through HS -- and know quite a few couples that have gotten married after meeting while working there!

But it is funny too!! Nothing wrong with humor!!

Re: Looking for a hall?

This wedding was probably a blast and no one will forget it that is for sure!

Not what I would do, but for me, the church was the most important part and I didn't really care all that much where the reception was. I say good for them for spending less than $350 on food and everyone was able to choose their entree Chat Icon

Wow, and DH used to tease me that he wanted our RD at that McDonalds in an old house on Jericho Tpke. I guess he was onto something! Chat Icon

Definitely not for me...If it were me, I'd take the expensive home I just bought & order in Pizza rather than go to McD's. Ok who am I kidding...I wouldn't have changed a thing...it was the biggest party we ever threw for ourselves & IMO worth every dime.

Start a poll on LIW.....something like "if I go to a wedding at McDonalds, do I give the same amount as if it were at a big catering hall?"Chat Icon Chat Icon

I actually thought that was funny. Hey, they did what they could afford. Better than putting yourself into hock to get married (and I have friends who did that).

I thought the same thing!!

Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Me too. There are so many people that spend themselves into debt on a wedding that is so far beyond what they can reasonably afford and then for years complain that they can't afford a house.

Don't get me wrong, I loved my wedding day but I was frugal in my spending. Getting married on an Monday saved at least 20K for the exact same party. I was able to afford a bigger house and do extensive renovations so it is exactly the way DH and I want. I took the money I saved on the wedding and poured it into a house that has gained instant equity... $$$$.

If they are happy then more power to them.
Oh, and I'll have a #1 with a coke pleaseChat Icon
