Book Club Anyone?
MrsMcK and I (she is a librarian so knows her stuff, lol) are thinking about starting a book club. She is in Levittown and I in Seaford. I have a friend in Boston who is in a book club - they meet once a month at restaurants, cafes, peoples' houses, other venues...
Anyway, would anyone be interested in joining us?

Oh...I wish I didn't live all the way up in Putnam now- I would love to. Maybe I will be able to swing it. I used to belong to one when I lived in Queens but there was a huge personality conflict between two girls and it folded.
If you met on a weekend I might be able to do it. I grew up in Levittown so I know the area. I will think about it!

THis is great!!! What day of the week is good? Personally I would say Monday or Wednesday evening....but a weekend is doable for me as well, and maybe people who are further away would be able to come then too.

Queens is only as far away as you think it is...LOL!! No seriously, if we did it once a month, it's not too much of a committment -- each month one member picks a book AND the place to meet... so when it is your turn, it will be in Queens if you want. And we can car pool....
My friend's club - they have been doing this for years - sometimes they meet at Tanglewood in the summer -- and Cape Cod another month..then maybe a cool cafe in Boston -- they are from all over the Boston are, but there are only 8 people I think...

Tuesday/Thursday isn't good for me, and I generally work 1 Saturday a month, but if I know in advance when the meeting is, I can schedule that day off.

How about --- Monday, March 27th? 7 pm?
I don't mean to be bossy but we have to make definite decisions otherwise it will fizzle, lol.
Now -- is that good for everyone?
Suggestions on place? And book to read??
I would like to read Reading Lolita in Tehran...or anything else!!

Don't think I can join you, but I just wanted to add that I think Reading Lolita in Tehran would be a great first book - I liked it very much and it's about a book club!

I am interested!!! I was supposed to have abook club at work but everyone cancelled....that is the 2nd time I joined a book club, read the book and was one of the only ones.

Are there any genres that are off limits? I'm trying to work on my book list and I found a true crime book that I'd like to suggest, but I'm not sure if this is appropriate or not for the book club. Any thoughts?
