Prayers needed
Well, as you all know I brought home Baby Francis  on Friday; just nearlly 48 hours after delievery. Well, on Monday when we woke up that morning, I noticed he appeared Jaundice. His skin was all yellow and the whites of his eyes. I was told in the hospital this could happen, because on the 5th day of life the bilirubin levels will peak and can be seen in the baby. Instruction were to "just watch it and make sure it doesn't get any worse". Well, yesterday Tuesday it hadn't gotten any better. I could now see that the inside of his mouth had turned yellow and even his thighs. I called the Ped. right away and had him seen earlier than his routine 2 week visit. The doc sent him for blood work and it turns out he had a very high level 19, where normal is anything less than 10. DH and I were so upset and scared for him. They now do photo therapy at home, so last night the medical co. delievered the home system and he has to be on that around the clock, except for bath or diaper change. This morning I have to take him back for more blood work to see if it is helping any. If it goes any higher, the doctor said he will need to be admitted to the hospital. This is all so scary as a new mom and dad. I am just asking for some prayers that baby Frankie gets better and we don't have to take the route of the hospital. Thanks for listening.

Ryan was jaundice in the hospital... i was told it common...
Here are some tips I was told: OPen all the blinds and keep him as close to sunlight as you can.... Feed him often!!!!!! The more he poops the better off he is....
His face will be the last thing to go back to normal... the yellowing starts at the feet n rises....same thing when it goes away....So as sooon as you see his legs are going back to color it a great sign....
The phototherapy will help alot....dont worry everything will be ok!

My son was jaundice and wasn't allowed to leave the hospital with me so he could receive phototheraphy. It broke my heart to see him under the lights, but after about 2-3 days, his levels went down and he has been fine ever since.

I'm so sorry. I can only imagine how scary this has been for you and DH. Baby Francis will be in my prayers. I hope he has a speedy recovery
