Well, i think it's just that if you have a 2 income household, $123 shouldn't break the bank. If you work, you should be able to afford a treat once inawhile. I work, but I can't afford any new clothes for fall, and that really frustrates me.

I think what bothered me the most, was that you couldnt buy yourself a pair of Uggs that cost ONLY $123.00.

$123.00 is my cable bill for a month.

$123.00 is the cost of food for some people, weekly.

I still say that you and FH are not doing something right with your money, to have nothing left over. Nobody is bashing you, or thinking you are crying poverty.Poverty would be not being able to buy food, not going without a pair of Uggs.

AGAIN i will say, i was using that as a REFERENCE!!! I mean, since school started, youd THINK i could get myself a pair of boots. Thats ALL!! Sorry i even mentioned it!!!

ok, now you are just getting defensive.I dont understand what you are trying to say. You are just using it as a reference? Then tell us something REAL that makes you wonder where your money goes. Is there something you cant afford? You are not giving us the whole shabang here.

Im not turning this into a conflict. I dont know what is happening to my money!! I def can meet my bills, thats not a problem (thank god!!) but what im sayingis, for the decent salary i make, youd think i could get those boots (or anything i wanted. Not every week, just once in awhile)
Im def. gonnatake your advice (and the advice of others) to WRITE DOWN EERYTHING (like even gum Chat Icon ) and see whats happening. DH and i were FINE before we got married. Maybe now we are just being more frivolus (is that the right word here??)

Again, i know i can eat and im SOOO incredibly thankful thati HAVE a job and a 403b and benefits and parenst that help and a DH that is supportive and, and, and. But again i will say, my original vent was over the fact that my raise was disappointing!!

How can ANYONE here offer SOUND ADVICE, by an example? I don't even understand the original post now. Is there something she is going without that is VITAL? I dont get it.

OK, you may not be able to pay for your husbands party, I understand that. But, if you cant, WHY would you go ahead with it? I understand, he works hard, etc. But it dosent mean you have to spend a couple of grand on a party, when you right now feel like 160K a year is just not cutting it. You need to get down to the reality of what is causing this problem. I would love to offer you more advice, but I do not even know what the problem is.

You say you have no money left over. We all gave you advice on tracking were you spend your money, etc.

My guess would be, you live beyond your means.

Good luck with everything.
DH and I are going through the same thing.
We both make decent salaries but between rent, car payment, insurance and other misc. it's very hard to
save as much as we'd like. It will get better.

would you look for another job? same field, but maybe at a bigger school.

and i have to agree, you have to look at the big picture, if you can't buy yourself new shoes or whatever, then something is just not right.

I bet this is something else you didnt factor in, spending money on Luca!!!!

My two little rats cost me a FORTUNE!

You're going to be ok. You just need to do a little analyzation and experiment. You will be surprised at what you come up with.

I don't think you were crying poverty at all - just expressing your frustration. We also constantly have weddings, parties, christenings...almost every weekend is booked up with at least one party. That is where all of our money goes now.

I think the point here is that it is very hard to buy yourself something because if you do, you may not be able to save any money that month. I know I have that same problem.

Conigs is just trying to feel better about this by posting. I know we are all there, or have been in that same boat before!

Re: Comments for my earlier post "Im depressed"

When people read things online, it's very easy for them to inject their own situation into your described scenario and that sometimes results in the original poster getting criticized because they are read wrong. What it comes down to is this. Unless you've met people who posts on here in person and they really KNOW you, and your situation, you really do run the risk of being criticized in a sometimes less than constructive way. Personally, I would not vent about these types of things on an open forum like this but that is MY opinion. I know I am very hurt by critical comments if I'm not prepared for them. I am all for freedom of speech and a persons own point of view or opinion. However, just be careful what you ask for. This is NOT directed at Michelle. Just a general statement about these kinds of posts. Michelle, I really do hope your situation turns around. The best advice I can give it to meet with a financial planner who can maybe make life easier for you and your DH until you are where you want to be financially. JMHO. I'm not trying to add any fuel to the fire or start a whole controversy.

Honestly? What upset me the most about all of your posts was that you need extra money, you need another job, but you feel you are too good to work for under $20 an hour.

Sometimes when you need money you take what you can get. I'm not putting you down, just saying that there are people with a lot more education and experience than you who work part-time for less just because they need the money.

I'm sorry but I agree.Chat Icon

Believe me! I can empathize with you. Sometimes I will pick a select group of ladies and FM them for advice. This way, I'm still gettting an outsider perspective but not all of the other stuff that goes along with a general post about sensitive topics. Good luck with everything. FM me if you ever need to. Re: Comments for my earlier post "Im depressed"

just to add, i just re-read part of your post and i think part of the problem is the way you look at money. for example, you stated you cc balance is ONLY about 2K. thats a lot of money to me, not a small amount.

see what i'm trying to say is when you think its only $100 or whatever, that is where the problem lies.
