Public school. I think that kids have more opportunities and meet a bigger variety of people in public school

depends on where we live, and how the schools are.

i'm a product of both. public school up until high school, and then all girls catholic school. the public schools in my area for elementary/ jr high were Great... the high schools... Not. My parents sacrificed alot to send me there, and Yes, i agree with what someone else said about being sa actively involved in your childs education as you possibly can... i think that holds true no matter What schools you choose, BUT where i was in brooklyn, it was more a question of SAFETY than anything else. And although private school is crazy expensive... if the public schools were we live are not safe, then i'll make that sacrifice when the time comes too Chat Icon

I'm a product of 17 years of catholic school (kindegarten through college) - and I'm stuck on this one. I love the discipline and "respect" that the experience instilled in me, but I also think I missed out on a lot - and was very sheltered from what the real world has to offer. As others have said, if the district is good, I'd probably give public a try - - but we're also planning for the possibility of private school.

I think the LI public schools are great but if we can afford catholic school, especially high school, that's my choice. I really feel that catholic high school (or private h.s.) prepares you a lot more for college. I know that compared to my public school friends college was a much easier adjustment for me. All of the work and the needed discipline was nothing for me because I was use to it from h.s.

My kids will go to public school. If they have any problems with school work Bri can help them. She is a teacher.

I went Catholic school all my life. If this was asked a few years ago I would say, catholic all the way. But I have totally changed. Here is why. My sister and my best friend are teachers in the public elementary schools in Queens. There is no comparison, catholic elementary schools are stuck in the past, they are not up to date and I think they really don't have the programs and the help for those children that have learning disabilities. As far as the High Schools, I would say Catholic, or Private all the way. The Public High Schools are NOT that great near me.
