My Birth Story...while I remember (and she's sleeping!)
Ok....here goes.
Went in Thursday morning 1/5/06. Pitocin started around 10am. Regular contractions started soon after that....about 3-4 minutes apart, quite bearable. We kind of sat around and waited....
and waited....
and waited....STILL 2 cm!
Dr broke my water around 3:15pm...SO not comfortable and she stretched me to 3 cm. Ok....maybe this will get it going. The contractions became SO bad, same frequency but the water had been providing a "cushion" of sorts, so without that I felt them SO much more. Tried sitting in the glider...didn't help much anymore the way it did earlier. Nurse comes in...I ask how long it takes to get the epidural after asking for it.....half hr....I'm debating waiting a little more and then another contraction hits....and then No...I'll take that epidural NOW thank You.
Get the epidural somewheres around 4:30-5pm by the time he was done and the nurse was done doing her thing. G-d in heaven....WOW. First off he hit jus the right spot and 2ndly...I was sUPER Sensitive to it, so it worked like a charm. My right side went DEAD...like I could NOT move it at all. Left side was numb, but not as bad. Took a short snooze somewhere in there.
6pm....Dr comes to check me....4 cm. WHAT??!!! UGH....looks like she'll be here in the wee hours of the morning. Ok whatever. Watch some tv, chat with DH, SIL, my doula. Try snoozing again. All through this...not feeling a single contraction, only some random tightening. They did a catheter which wasn't bad either considering I didn't feel anything.
Start feeling some serious pressure down there, like I have to pee or poop really bad, but it is not in the abdomen, it's DOWN THERE! SIL mentions maybe you should call the nurse and have you checked. I'm like, Nah...it's no biggie, it doesn't hurt, just pressure.
8:30-9pm rolls around, the nurse comes to check me. She says I have a rim in the back (or was it the front...) and nothing on the other side and that this baby was on her way NOW. Oh, really? OK...cool! She has the dr called, and we do 2 sets of pushing, 3 pushes each. Now, may I remind you that I can't feel anything, can't move my legs, didn't know I was even pushing, but apparently I was doing it right cuz she was coming FAST. Dr comes in--"ARe we having a baby tonight or what?" Sure...let's get this party started. We push some more, the head startes to come out I guess because they asked if I wanted a mirror and I said no. Ew. Didn't want to feel her head either. At this point, the Dr asks DH if he's ever delivered in his EMT days. He says no, and she says "would you like to help?" I figured it meant cutting the cord or something...NOPE> DH strips down to a tee shirt, dons a pair of latex gloves and Dr then proceeds to tell him where to grab her and how to ease her out!! HOLY CR@P. I push a little more, and the next thing I know I see this little baby between my legs and the plop her on my belly. I'm a mess....crying hysterically. SIL held one leg, doula/friend held the other.
I did tear a little, but the dr said it was clean cut, the same as it would have been had she cut me.
All we did was joke around with the nurses. The hospital, the staff, everything was amazing. I could not have had a better experience.

So great DH was able to deliver his daughter! I don't know if my DH would be able to stomach that one. COngratulations on your beautiful little princess!!

Shana thats a great birth story!!! You make it sound soooo easy!!! Im so happy everything worked out well...and you're little princess is here!!! Cherish every min with her...it goes soooo fast!!!
