I never worry about posting pics. I wouldn't mind if someone came up to me. Even if it is a lurker.
What are they going to do? I have been posting pics for years of myself and family and never looked back
I would not mind if someone saw me who I knew and said I am so and so from LIF. If I saw someone on my "friends list" I would say hello.
A lurker would bother me and I would think they were nuts.
Oh no, I only have one person on my "Friends" list on here! Am I considered a lurker?? I'm just new!

I recgonized Chemlgnr's Andrew (when he was a baby) in Target once. I didn't say anything to her in the store but, I did FM about it.
I have had people come up to me who I knew through their screen name. They recgonized my kids.

Also, when someone FM's me who has 3 posts, it makes me feel strange. I got an FM once from someone who out of nowhere who was asking me personal questions about my house, so I blocked them. I mean to lurk is one thing to them FM people when you do not post at all is another story, IMHO.
That is really scary....I can't believe that happened to you--just goes to show there are definitely lurkers. I think I'm changing my avatar and taking down the few pics I posted...just too scary.
I mean if you like LIF why not join? Why lurk? Why freak people out like that? I don't get it 
This is the exact reason why I never posted, I joined awhile back but always had it in the back of my mind that if I give to much information about myself and/or family, some nut job could find me. So, I mainly used these boards as reference. Once MrsJ started to work with me (see not all "lurkers" are bad, I referred her, plus I kind of new her from town.) she pretty much convinced me to start posting and to not worry about that stuff.

Seriously think about it.
I was at the Sayville Festival a couple of weekends ago with my DH and DD. Who is standing right next to me== Marissa and Ryan. I had never met her in person before but I looked at her, hey hubby and Ryan and I knew it was her. I said hi. She said hi it was obvious that she didn't know who I was, so I told her. But imagine, what the situation could have been. I knew her son's name and other things. You never know what people are capable of. Believe me I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to share pictures of my daughter on line but this world is too scary. For the most part most of us on here are too trusting- it's good and bad. It's GREAT because we know that we are here to support one another but it's bad because we are not the only ones here, if you know what I mean.
I am not saying that everyone should take down their children's pictures- that's a personal decision but please be careful how much information you put out there about your child.

Honestly, I think about it sometimes, but the World is what it is, and I couldn't live without Jared, Ryan, Avas, Isabellas, Talia, Emily, Animal, Gia, Roman, Alia, Julia etc...I love to see their pics and how fast they are all growing...it's actually one of my favorite parts of the site...

I spotted Jillian (Jillysmom) in Walmart when both our kids were a few months old.
I saw the baby first cause she was in the cart, in the baby section, and adorable as can be, but once I saw her mom I recognized her as well. She had posted pics, wedding, baby etc. also as a fellow LIW old timer.
I said hello didn't realize she lived so close to me. 
about the whole internet thing, I think about it ALL the time. Thats why I am not usually so forthcoming with info, I was even MORE cautious in LIW for some reason- like not wanting some nut to show up at your wedding and such.
I am pretty careful about my son in the same way.

I can't live in the world of What If's, I just live in the Here & Now...I love this site, in particular this board. Helping each other, watching our babies grow, sharing in the good times and bad, welcoming new moms and new babies.
They say it takes a village to raise a child and in a way I look at LIF Parenting as my little Village....I love the support, the laughs and the pictures and I for one am not gonna change

see I dont worry about these things, You say imagine what the scenario could be? what could it be? so you know there names? I understand more with an older child, that can be convinced you know his parents, but what is the harm with an infant.

I don't want to for similar reasons. Although on LIW someone recognized me at the grocery store, but FMed me later; which was probably good, since it probably would have freaked me out.

Someone recognized my daughter's photos on my mother's door at the University she works at... I found it hysterical and didn't worry too much about it. I DO worry about psycho lurkers, espcially since I seem to have such an affinity for whacko-stalkers, but I have a (probably) false sense of security considering I no longer live on LI so I doubt anyone would be able to track me down...

I agree. I really don't worry about it too much. The internet has made it so easy for psychos to get info anyway whether you post pics on LIF or not. Without any other identifying information (which I try to be more careful about though I'm probably not as careful as I could be) what can anyone really do with a picture and knowing your child's name? All the people that work at KK, Picture People, and Target have also seen my child's picture... and everyone of my friends and family who has a picture and has shown it to a person I don't know.
ETA: I could have sworn I saw Melbernai in Target the other day, but then I saw the baby in the cart and it wasn't Emily

I did once a few yrs ago when Kathi's older son (My2Boys) was an infant. I think I freaked her out by knowing her kid's name in a store...but were friends now so Im assuming shes gotten past it LOL (Kathi? Remember that?)
Yes!!!  Scared the crap outta me. Liz is the reason I don't post pics of my boys.  Just kidding. You know I love ya, Liz. 
This website is wayyyyyyy too public for my comfort level. Besides, most of the posters who would respond to me posting my boys' pics are my friends who see them anyway.
