Did parents ever give you a sex talk?

Mine didn;t. My family is very old fashioned and strict, too strict.
My mother cried when I told her I had a boyfriend at 18.
My parents till this day have only said sporadically that if I have sex before I'm married
1) That guy won't marry me because I caved in and am now tainted
2) Huge sin. Will probably go to hell

But, to my brother, they tell him use a condom. He's a boy and supposed to have sex. This kills me.

My father did when we were visiting college. He was really awkward and I felt embarrassed.

Yes... when I was young. I don't remember much about it... but the book they gave me and we discussed. It talked about how flowers reproduce, then dogs, then people. I just remember that it was made of what looked like construction paper cut outs- like South Park's first season

Yes, I was 12 I think. It wasn't too descriptive but they did talk to me about it.

Yes right before THE MOVIE in 6th grade. My poor mother was trying to use the right terminology. My twin kept saying things like "Are you talking about the balls??"

No, I never ever got 'the sex talk'
I guess they figured since I had older cousins and an older brother AND most of my friends were older, I'd figure it all out on my own..

Funny though - growing up my parents were INSANELY strict. I wasn't allowed to date until 16, wasn't allowed to have a boy up in my room, they took pretty much implied that I should not be having sex before marriage, etc.. it was like being in prison

BUT then I went to college, moved out, had a bunch of long term boyfriends, lived my own life and in my own place.. so by the time I met DH and we were living together (before marriage), they had no problem with it at all! My dad even went so far to say "its better that you test him out before you commit to marriage"

Boy how times have changed ! I think they were just so happy I was actually gonna GET married that they just let the living together part slide ........

Not really. My mom showed my sister and I this cartoon about sex and menstrating and all that stuff. Then, she had one for my brothers. Basically, for her it was DON'T DO IT. She had my sister and me when she was 17 and 19, so she wanted us to finish school and all that stuff.

Yes! it showed a man and a woman (dancing) under the covers and all you saw were the covers going up and down. then, little spermies meeting a cute little eggie with long eye lashes

The one for boys was about erections and stuff like that. We thought it was funnier more than informative.

My mother did. She was honest and open with all of us and I thank her for it. We got the sex talk, the disease talk, the self-protect talk. I grew up in the 80's and way too many people were becoming sick with a "misterious" illness...my mom lost some great friends to AIDS and was so honest with us all.

My parents were very closed-mouthed too, but I had 2 older sisters to tell me everything.

I remember in 8th grade, thinking well I am supposed to ask so..here it goes: "Mom, where do babies come from?" And she kept putting the clothesin the dryer, didn't turn around and said "Oh you know where they come from - they come from between your legs!"

Needless to say, that was my first and last attempt on the sex subject!

Yep..my mom gave me "the talk" in the sixth grade after I told her that I liked an older boy!

No. Never. The day I got my AF my mother took a book out of my sister's bottom drawer that she had been given when she "became a woman". The next morning my father congratulated me and I died of embarrassment

I went to an all-girl Catholic school and we only had a talk from a hygenist representing one of the ST companies. We did the reproductive system in the last year of school just in time for our exams. It was a nightmare.

Thankfully, I had this Dutch friend who's mother was very liberal and open about sex, so I learnt everything from her.

My mom was pretty open so we never had just one "talk". I would ask questions and she would answer. I hope to do the same for my kids.

My parents had the birds and bees talk with me when I was in elementary school. I think they gave me a book about it too. That was about it on the sex talk until I had a high school boyfriend. My parents basically said they hoped all we did was kiss and "pet" (my dad's phrase). The most embarassing conversation though was right before college. my parents sat me down, told me they thought I was a good girl, but if I ever got into a situation, they'd want me to be safe. Then they gave me a box of condoms. They did that with my brother too before he went to college. I guess my parents wanted us to have an open relationship, and I'm glad they talked to me about sex. However, I never wanted to disclose anything to them about me.

My mom answered all my questions when I asked them. I was in 4th grade when we saw the cartoon movie "my mom's having a baby" in school and I already knew everything. My mom also gave me a book that described stuff.

I went to Catholic elementary school and we had sex ed in guidance class from 5th or 6th grade on - boys and girls were seperated and we had movies and discussions.

My mom said she showed my brother and I the Nova movie on reproduction when we were young - but I don't remember that. Then, I don't remember how old I was, pretty young, I was reading "Are You There God, It's Me Margaret" and asked my mom (while she was having coffee with my Godparent's and my Dad) what a Period was. After we went home, she told me all about that, but no sex talk.
Then, when I was probably 16-17 my mom one day said - "You know how all that works, right?" and I was so embarassed and was just like "Yeah." That was it.

and to do this day, she doesnt think we do it..HELLO we been together almost 8 eyars!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh I got the talk alright. From MY DAD when I was 15. It was so bad. All he kept saying was "All guys want to do is separate your jeans from your jockeys." I just wanted to laugh so hard the whole time. It was terrible.
