Our baby is here, 5 weeks early!
My DH and I have a beautiful baby girl!
On Friday June 9, I woke up at 12:45 AM with this sudden urge to urinate. When I got to the bathroom I realized I was soaking wet!! I called the doc and she was not my normal doc, but the covering one, so she did not know me well. But she was really nice and said that it might be bladder incontinence but that if I was really concerned to come to the hospital since I was a first time mom to be. When I hung up, I stood up and even more fluid leaked! So my husband and I made a mad dash for the hospital b/c I had a low amniotic fluid disorder and the gestational diabetes. We did not even bring a bag or a camera.
When I got to labor and delivery they did a test and it showed that my bag of waters broke and that I was in labor. The contractions started just as they hooked me up to the monitor. They were 5 minutes apart to begin and were getting longer and stronger. The whole time I was thinking that I forgot to pack a bag and a camera! I knew I was going to have a c section since the baby was breech. I was really scared. At 3 am they started to prep me for surgery. I was shaking so badly on the table. I did not feel anything (which was my greatest fear). But since I was shaking so violently they had to really drug me up. At 4:01 am our little girl, Hannah Paige came screaming into this world at 4 lbs. 3 oz. and 17 inches long. She is the most gorgeous baby I have ever seen. I am in so much love!
was discharged on Tuesday from the hospital.
So far so good! I am trying to breast feed, but at the hospital I had to give her formula too, so I am afraid she may have nipple confusion. She only lost 3 oz in the hospital and has a check up on this Friday. She had some minor complications that resolved themselves while we were in the hospital.
I am going to be looking for a lactation consultant to help us. She just won’t latch on and eat. As soon as she latches on, she ***** 4-5 times and falls asleep. I am pumping and giving her expressed breast milk as well as formula. I am hoping to get rid of the formula soon too. Of course, I have the most defective PISA that I bought from BBB. Medela is overnighting me a new one today or tomorrow.
I have to say that the nurses and staff at Huntington hospital are the nicest people. Ladies delivering there should be very happy. I was very pleased with the care I received!

Congratulations. What a little peanut she is. So glad everything is going well. Meeting with a LC will probably help so much. You might need to use a nipple shield in the beginning until she gets a stronger ****.

Congratulations! I also delivered 5 weeks early, it was a scary day for us. Thankfully my parents were able to bring DH the camera so we were able to have a quick picture before they brought her to NICU.
