I am SO hurt and upset- repost from preggo board

When I told my parents that we were having a baby (I was 6 weeks) I asked them to not tell anyone until 12 weeks or until I told them I felt comfortable telling people. My mom PROMISED me she wouldn't and even kept telling me as the weeks went on how she is so proud of herself for NOT telling anyone! I was also proud of her b/c I know how her and her friends are- telling eachother EVERYTHING (and I don't mean just a couple of friends- there's about 15 of them!) I told her specifically NOT to tell ANYONE b/c her friend's daughter had gotten preggo and the mother told everyone (my mom told me) and then she went through a horrible m/c a week later and was devistated. I'm sure I don't have to tell you why I wanted to avoid a situation like this.

Well, today was her 60th b/d party- a surprise I painstakingly put together through all of my morning sickness and tiredness. I paid attention to every detail as I know my mom is critical and would want everything to be just so. I am currently 10 weeks now and had asked her a few days ago to still keep it a secret for another 2 weeks. Well I bet you can see where this is going!

My mom's friend "N" was the first to arrive. As soon as she walked through my door, she congratulated me on the baby! I said to her that no one is supposed to know and she just shrugged. I now knew that my mom betrayed my trust and blabbed!

When my mom got here, she asked me in private if she could tell people. I said to her, I think they already know and she started looking like she did something wrong.

Well, the party went on and I decided to let it go for the day and talk to her another time. Why ruin HER day? I told her to go ahead and tell people and she made a "big" announcement. Other people started to come up to me and tell me that they already knew and that my mom told them weeks ago at a lunch they all went to!

At the end of the night when everyone left, my mother began to swear to me that it was only her one friend that she told . I told her that the others told me and that I was hurt and very upset about this. She admitted NOTHING and turned it around on my dad and me! I am so p!ssed at her and that she lied to me when her friends told me what happened! I have also come to learn that our financial planner (my parents and I have the same one) came over my parent's house the other day to discuss finances and she told him too

I feel so betrayed and upset! HOW could my own mother do something like this????? I am her only child and it doesn't seem like she cares for me or respects my wishes!

The best part of this is that she had my dad call me when they got home to tell me that I OWE HER AN APOLOGY W T F????????

Lora, I'm so sorry you're upset. It's the last thing you need right now. You were a real trooper in planning your mom's party in the early stages of your pregnancy.

I know you wanted to share your good news with her; it's just a shame she couldn't respect your wishes and not tell anyone.

i know that when i get PG that its going to be sooo hard, but ill probably hold out form telling my parents until im close to the 12 week mark, b/c as much as my mom would promise (and really *try*) to keep it a secret- i know how excited she gets, and just would not be able to keep it in, no matter how good her intentions really are

i know that when i get PG that its going to be sooo hard, but ill probably hold out form telling my parents until im close to the 12 week mark, b/c as much as my mom would promise (and really *try*) to keep it a secret- i know how excited she gets, and just would not be able to keep it in, no matter how good her intentions really are

I really didn't want to tell them but we were going on a cruise with my inlaws and we figured we should tell them b/c I wouldn't be drinking and what if I'm sick (and I was and am SO sick). We had to tell my parents if we were going to tell DH's parents- yadda , yadda, yadda......

I just KNEW this would happen and she PROMISED!

First of all...
I am so sorry that your mom betrayed your trust. I am sure she is excited and wants the world to know you are having a baby, but it really wasnt her right to tell people. I am sorry you had to deal with all of that!

I know how you are feeling... thats why my sister waited a little while to tell my dad. As much as he would promise not to tell, that kind of news, he would not be able to keep in.. Not to purposely betray her but because he would not be able to contain his excitement for being a future granddaddy.....You have every right to be upset but remember your mom loves you... think how excited she mut have been to tell everyone her little girl is going to have a little one...

I'm sorry she did that to you. That sounds like something my mother would do and pretend like it was no big deal.
