Meet Madonna or be a good mommy....UPDATED - I'M GOING!!!
I have a dilema. My birthday is next month and for my birthday my sister wanted to do something great for me. She works for a large company which handles lots of high profile events (grammy's, anything CBS,MTV etc). Anyway, on my birthday weekend she is going to LA for a meet and greet with Madonna, going to her concert (in a very small venue), and going to the after party. She invited me to come along and she would pay my way . While I would LOVE to do this I am very torn.....if it were in NY or someplace close I wouldn't think twice. We would fly in San Diego (where my brother, sil, niece and nephew live) Friday night, stay there sat, go to the concert sun and come home mon (my bday).
I have two options....
#1 - DH said he would stay with the baby (with lots of help from my mom).......she even offered to babysit the whole time.
#2 - TAKE the baby to San Diego and my brother and SIL would watch him Sunday and we would come back monday. (If I did this I would stay longer, which DH wasn't thrilled about -says he'll miss him AND I would have to fly at least one way (5.5 hours) with the baby ALONE......who doesn't like to sit still).
She always gets these fun things to do but unfortunately they are usually in LA (she took my sil to the Grammys and afterparty's, took my nephew to the Kids Choice Awards a few weeks ago) so I don't know what to do. It sounds fun but I'm afraid I will miss my little bean way too much
What would you do..........
UPDATE::::: Thank you all so much for your thoughts and for encouraging me to take some time out for myself and GO!!!! My sister booked the flights yesterday (we are leaving early am Sat and coming home Monday)......... so Madonna HERE I COME
Unfortunately though, the weekend I'm going is the same weekend as the mommy GTG so I won't be able to go. Hopefully there will be more where I can meet everyone

What a great birthday gift!!
ETA: Plus he'll be in great hands, and you are giving your DH a chance to really bond with your DS. Of course you'll miss the baby and your DH, but I don't think you'll regret your decision to go.

I voted for you to go. If you met with a lot of resistance about going that'd be one thing, but it sounds like DH and your mom will do fine while you go and have fun.

WOW! I'm so happy so many people think I should go. AT first I said NO right away b/c I would feel WAY too guilty and miss the little guy sooooooooo much. Then I started to rethink and then felt even GULITIER.........You guys are making me a feel a little better . I still feel guilty even thinking aobut it everytime I look at him .
My mom just laughs at me....she said it's b/c he's my first. By the time she was on her 4th she went to California for 2.5 weeks

I agree. Being a good mommy does not mean spending all of your free time with your child. It's loving your child no matter where you are & recognizing that Mommy needs fun too! HAVE A GREAT TIME! AND HAPPY BIRTHDAY IN ADVANCE!

Oh my! You will be so lucky to go and if I were you, I would jump all over the opportunity. So don't worry, take advantage... when does anyone get to meet Madonna  I idol you, because I love her music! Was hoping her tour stopped in Houston, TX...but doesn't  Have a great time if you go!

I voted to take him with you but that's only beause I would not be able to leave my daughter, but that's just me. I wouldn't have a good time. If you can go and feel comfortable leaving him with his dad then go for it and have a great time. It sounds like lots of fun.

GO!!! My BF was invited to a pre/post party with Madonna's crew with her last tour and she said it was AMAZING! She hung out with Madonna all night! They danced, laughed, exchanged stories, PHONE NUMBERS, and drank coffee martinis ALL NIGHT!! You can't pass this up!
