I am soooo jealous - that is my dream house. It is beautiful!!!!
My parents just bought a house pre-construction in Savannah - it will be done in January. I am sooooo excited to be able to go there whenever I want!!!!

And to those "jealous"...don't be!! The hard (and impossible part for some) part was deciding to leave NY. Everything else...the jobs, the house, the joy came after. Something happens when you make a decision so drastic that's meant to be - all your stars align. I wish you ALL the best...
FYI... our house is a third of the cost of a "starter" LI home and about 1/4 or 1/5 of a comparable one in NY. There are many more in GA! We got lucky because ours is custom built on a master planned community, but there are so many great areas to live in in GA. I'll stop selling now!! 
Seriously though...thanks!! We are so thankful and feel so blessed!  Happy home dust to you all!!

You are right. That house in my neighborhood would start at 900K on a half acre. Then there is the upgrades for granite, marble, mouldings, light fixtures, jacuzzi tub, etc. and you've added another 200K.
It is a beautiful home. Good luck in GA. I'm sure it was a tough decision.

My MIL told me that (she's in Brooklyn) and I didn't believe her. That's just insane!! We live in a pool community with tennis and the builder won an award for our community...so I can only imagine how much that would go for over there. Plus we live in the "estates" area of that subdivision and have upgrades throughout (like crown molding everywhere, chair rail, dual temp control for upstairs and down and vaulted ceilings)...and it's still under $250K! 
Your house is gorgeous though...and you should be so proud of yourself. Buying in NY is hard, in LI near impossible!

She's right! I've seen houses less than HALF that size, only one bathroom, in my neighborhood for over a million.
I looooove your house!!!!! Are you still willing to rent the garage to me?

Newhome - to answer your questions...we LOVE it!! The neighbordhood association President came over last week and gave us a "welcome" pack with a blockbuster card and some popcorn. All our neighbors have made sure they have come over to introduce themselves...and the ones across the street baked us cookies and made a sign for us. In Brooklyn, we heard gunshots, had a fire in our bldg. and lived amongst crack heads...so I say it's pretty much a thousand times better!! We really love it!!
