Although you don't have clear answers at least it hasn't spread. I agree with you in that you probably should go back to Boston. If these guys can't agree, you need to go to a better source. Hopefully, the Drs. in Boston can tell you definitively what is going on and maybe surgery can get whatever is in there out for good.
