Re: Would you feel comfortable...
I personally wouldn't feel comfortable. There is a sense of pride that I have knowing that I work to help make us survive. I also feel that because I work, if I want to treat myself to something frivolous, I can and it isn't at his expense.
On top of that, our home is clean whether I work or not. Maybe it isn't perfect, but I think if I stayed home, I would be bogged down with bizarre ideas of dusting the crown molding every third Monday or polishing the curtain rods every other Thursday. Too much time is NOT good for the mind. JMO! Goes along with my reason for avoiding jury duty. I'm too busy to even think about it, so if you actually had time to do, you have too much time on your hands, therefore, GET A JOB!

Re: Would you feel comfortable...
Miss Jones I think you have a point there...my EX was cheating on me with my best friend -- she didn't work and her son was in play school full time so she was always around and - ahem- available.
I think she was bored out of her mind and started with my ex just to "entertain" herself. Her DH was a great guy too....
Of course this does not apply to everyone. But I think in some cases the old adage is true...idle hands do the devil's work...

Honestly ID LOVE to be a housewife. Seriously I love to be home and fix/clean/cook. I wish we could afford for me to stay home.

Re: Would you feel comfortable...
I'd feel very comfortable not working and letting my dh support us. Unfortunately right now that's not possible.
I love what I do, but working 45-50hrs a week and managing everything else in my life isn't always easy. I work from home two days a week and wouldn't mind staying home everyday and NOT having to work. I'm almost envious of those who are financially able to do so
I don't see why anyone would see that as a bad thing

Re: Would you feel comfortable...
When I was off on Monday for the holiday, I was home while my DH was at work. The amount of "domestic" stuff I got accomplished was amazing. So, if we could afford it, yes I would consider taking care of the house and making a nice home for us my job...that is IF we could comfortably afford it. My DH always tells me he wishes he made enough $ for me to go back to school FT or stay home when we have a baby.
So, yes, I would do it, as long as I was productive in some way (not lounging around).
