Well, I wasn't really nervous, just very excited! I have been having heart palpitations for 2 years and just recently went through a lot of testing... everything is fine... but the heart stuff was in the back of my mind. I was afraid of having a heart attack if anything, I wasn't afraid to actually do it, you know what I mean?
Then right before we went, we were watching the people that went before us come down, and we saw that someones parachute did not deploy and it (the parachute/bag) went flying down so fast and hit the ground so hard and bounced. The guy had a reserve parachute and that one worked but it was still scary seeing that happen... so that is when I got a little nervous. Once we got in the plane it was so tightly packed! I was looking out the window and we looked sooo high. The guy who was filming me asked me if I thought we were high and I said "Yes".. then he said "We are only at 4000 feet, we are going up to 13,000" But I still wasn't scared. We were in the plane for awhile, then suddenly the door opened and the experienced people all went jumping out! It was crazy! Then I was like OK, this is it! We went to the edge of the plane where we sat with our legs hanging out. I knew when the instructor counted to three we were going out! So I just looked out and enjoyed the view. It was so surreal! I was like "is this really happening???" Then we went falling out! It felt like the ride Free Fall at Great Adventure, but for a minute long and probably faster! It was very cool. Once we were at about 30 seconds I started finding it hard to breathe. It was so cold and windy, and the harness was tight. Once the parachute was deployed we had another 4-5 minutes to cruise back down. We did a few spins which was fun! The landing was fun also. Like a minute later Ray landed and we walked back together. He went right after me so he said he saw me doing the spins and stuff. I didn't see him though because I didn't look up. I wanted to look down the whole time, it was hard to look at the camera man. Today my shoulders, back and neck are really sore.
It was so much fun and I would definitely do it again. If I do it again though, I don't want to do it on Long Island. I would want to go somewhere with better scenery. Ray saw the Manhattan skyline because his instructer pointed it out to him (I didn;t see it, mine didn't point it out).
It was a memorable anniversary, thats for sure!
