it all depends on why i'm upset...if its wedding shiat then he's good, but if its stupid stuff, then he doesn't take it as seriously......make sense?

I don't think there is a person who could better read me in the world. When something is going on he can read what I need and springs into action.
I am VERY grateful for that.

My dh is awesome in so many ways but hes not great at this unfortunately. He tries to listen but doesnt offer great advice or maybe its me..I am a very hard person to console.

Sometimes, but then sometimes he just gets mad and ends up yelling at me... I just want him to listen and sympathize, but he wants to FIX everything, and to him, everything is cut and dried--black and white.
He feels that if you aren't going to do something to fix whatever is bothering you, he doesn't want to hear it.
But sometimes all you want is a sympathetic ear!

He's getting better. He's more of a joker. He has a hard time when I'm upset, it really bothers him, so he makes jokes to try to make me laugh. It usually works, but sometimes, I just want him to hug me and console me. He's gotten better in that way, however, I still think he's comforting when he makes me laugh

He tried he really does...
But I think it really bothers him when Im sad, and he dosent know how to handle it....
Ill never 4get the day I got the call from my dad (like the week b4 i gave birth) telling me he was going to Iraq... I freaked hung up on him, and just cried...
DH just sat at the dinner table in silence... and all he could say is..."are you ok" and "Im sorry- i never had to deal with this"
Truthfully- lucky for him...there has been no "tragedy's" in his life, and he dosent know how to deal....
Even though emotionally he's not there in times like these.... I know he's is totally there in heart!

Usually yeah. But ti depends. He's great if I'm crying, sad upset, but if I'm stressed, all over the place upset he has no clue. He tried to cuddle me, when i need space! he'll get it eventually

oh lord, no. i mean, i know he *wants* to make it better, but he just makes a Pouty face (symbolizing that he feels my pain).
he gives Amazing hugs... and i'm a strong believer in the power of a hug, but sometimes i wish he just 'got it' more.

not really. 
I'm a mushy person. Yesterday, i needed a hug more than i needed air, or water.
He claims he can tell somethings not right by just looking at my face...but he doesn't do anything about it. He's not a cuddler/musher.
Lately, he's had a lot of his own crap to worry about. No time for my crap.

Eh, he's got room for improvement.
My DH is a solver. He can't just listen to my problems. He always has some sort of solution. Sometimes I wish he would just LISTEN to me.
If I want a hug, he's good at that.
I love him for trying

Mine has gotten better, after being told repeatedly, "Don't tell me not to be upset," "Don't try to fix things, just let me be upset," and "Don't tell me I shouldn't be upset."
