I started "A Thread of Grace" last night (finally). So far I like it, have a feeling that I will be bawling my eyes out. Esp. with all these hormones I am taking!! 
I haven't started it yet It's next!

I read this also, and while I found it very well written, I felt as if Didion thought she was the only woman ever to become a widow. I did feel bad about her daughter's illness and subsequent death.

I just finished Map of Bones by James Rollins. It was EXCELLENT! If you liked The DaVinci Code, you'd like this book. Very similar.
I just started Random Family by Adrian Nicole LeBlanc. It's non-fic. She tracked a group of people from the South Bronx for over ten years and wrote about their ups and downs. It's pretty harrowing and sad.

I read this a while back. It is sort of depressing, but I found it very interesting.

I read this a while back. It is sort of depressing, but I found it very interesting.
It's incredibly depressing. And I work in the South Bronx- many of the streets mentioned are familiar to me. It makes me look at some of the kids I've come across in a different light. Like, I knew many of them have it bad, but what these kids are going through is unreal!

I finally finished "A Thread of Grace," which I definitely recommend to anyone who likes historical fiction. I am not reading "Tender Bar," which, so far, is a very enjoyable memoir.

I am in the middle of Dogtown by Anita Diamant (she wrote the Red Tent)... so far its interesting... its a story of a town that was supposed to exist in the 1800's on Cape Ann in Massachusetts.
Completely different from the red tent.

I also want to read Circle of Grace....anyone ever read that?

I read that and Dry, and now I am onto Magical Thinking which is HYSTERICAL! I had to literally put the book down and laugh.
Then I am going to read Sellervision and he has Possible Side Effects that just came out.

Middlesex by Jeffrey Eugenidis - he wrote the Virgin Suicides...
its about a hermaphodite raised as a girl and later becomes a man...
I actually picked it up because its about a greek family, which is what I am (although as far as I know we don't have any hermaphodites in our family) and its really interesting reading about all the customs that my family has too.
