A particular Co-Worker Annoys Me!
There is a group of 4 of us that get starbucks almost every day.
Person A
Person B
Person C
and me.
Person C NEVER pays, I mean EVER! So today when I went, I just didn't get her anything. She called me out on it and I didn't have the guts to tell her I was sick of her mooching.
Anyway, just wanted to see how others would handle it to see if I can get an idea for next time I go.
OOH PS When we grab each otehr lunch, she always places an order but never chips in money there either!
OOh and last but not least, she is NEVER the person who will go and get the drinks or food.

How does A & B feel about it? If they feel the same way, you have to either all tell her together (strength in numbers) or stop inviting her all together (which would be mean if you wanted to be her friend).
If they don't care (which I have a feeling they feel the same as you), you may have to be brave and call her out on her own and say "Hey, get me this" and just sit down. Let her get her @$$ up.

wow sounds like my ex-worker!!! would say something like....
I'm sorry I'm short on cash this week...I could only afford 3. I think we need to all chip in or just have everyone take turns paying. Something in that sense. Or if not....

You definitely have to say something. Tell "c", you can't afford to foot her bill anymore and need her to chip in as well as go get the food/drinks once in a while.

so one day I said everyone bring in a 20 and I will start a petty cash envelope.

Or you guys can start a "Starbucks Bank" just keep it on your desk and keep tabs on who puts money in there & who doesn't. I don't know....I don't mind paying for others but jeesh not all the time!

That's a great attitude for someone that doesn't want to pay....working 5 days a week, that $15.00 a week and $60.00 a month.

Rock the boat? So now the definition of rocking the boat is not buying somebody free starbuks?
You just say "no money... no latte". Always offer to get it... just when they say "yes i want some.... simply say ok i need cash since I dont have it on me". Its that simple.

she was a handful...and never gave for b-day cakes but was always at the party.

If you are stopping on the way IN to work to get it then I can see the problem with getting her to fork over some cash. If that's the case, A,B, and you need to stop doing that.
It should be that when you are all putting in your orders, everyone pays up then. So just say to her, what are you having? Okay, that's $4. If she looks at you funny just say, I can't buy for you today, I don't have enough cash on me. But no apologies.
Another good idea is to maybe rotate the getting lunch and coffee duty. Say - A goes mondays, B goes Tuesdays, and C goes Wednesdays - then she can't possibly avoid paying.
What a moocher.

wow, you are a saint. IMO, no money = no coffee or lunch. i would understand the first couple of times thinking that they forget or will pay later but that obviously isn't the case here. i can't believe she is so cheap and ballsy to expect others to pay for her. i friend is one thing but just a co-worker, well that is completely another.
it's kinda hard now being that it has gone on for quite some time w/o anything being said. i would suggest that if you all go together, don't invite her and if only one goes, then don't ask what she wants. if she b!tches about it say that you don't mind getting her coffee or lunch but really can't afford to pay for hers.

I would speak with A & B and if you're all on board, go to her as a group. I would think they're pretty fed u with footing her bill all the time too. My Starbuck's addiction costs $4.02 a pop - it definitely adds up. Besides, on principle, it's a pretty swarmy thing to do, imo.

I wouldnt speak with A or B about this bc that would be rocking the boat. (talking behind this persons back). What I would do is if your coffee costs 4 dollars give in 4 dollars. If you are not paying for C then let A and B foot the bill. At some point they will have the guts to do the same.

I would be really annoyed if a co-worker expected me to subsidize her lunch and coffee regularly. As for what to say, I don't know. I am a bit of a wimp so I'd end up being all passive aggressive which is of course not a solution.
