as a side note, I just watched an old interview with Steve and he and his father had such a hard time after tragic death of Steve's mother, cant imagine what that poor man is going through right now

I don't think it should be released and if the video were released, I wouldn't watch it. I can't imagine ever wanting to watch someone's death.

as a side note, I just watched an old interview with Steve and he and his father had such a hard time after tragic death of Steve's mother, cant imagine what that poor man is going through right now
I was at the gym earlier and saw his dad on the news being interviewed after the Govt of Australia offered to give him a state funeral. His dad declined the generous offer and when he spoke, his voice was cracking, he was on the verge of tears

I feel the same way. It was a tragedy, but people die EVERY DAY doing NOTHING to put themselves in danger.

I'm not all that surprised. while I was not a huge fan of his, he was a fearless man who did some amazing things! he died in such a gruesome way. it's horrible and tragic

If you really think about it, just about the whole world knew who this guy was.
It's a big deal because he deals with some of the most dangerous animals in the world and he was killed by something that is supposed to be relatively docile. I mean, the last cruise I went on there was a "Swimming with Stingray" excursion.

i am a HUGE animal lover as well
but i have to say...
although not the way i thought it was going to be
i kinda felt that he was heading down a dangerous path...
so i am not totally surprised

True true. You can die riding a horse. We should never take animals for granted. They've all been around a lot longer than us.

I think we all would be posting a lot if any important figure died. He may have not been important to some, but he really was important to wildlife conservation.
The fact that he was such a nice man and so loving towards his family, just breaks your heart.

I don't - I think it's completely disrespectful to his memory and to his family.
Even if his final wishes were for the video to be shown, I still don't think it should be. I understand about respecting final wishes, but what about respecting his family's grief and privacy? I actually think it's kind of a sick final wish

PS - poor Bindy Sue. She is so precious. At least she has lots of footage of her Dad to refer to in the future....

Princess Diana was just one woman and Christopher Reeves was just one man, but their deaths were widely discussed. Not only is it because they are famous, but because they were activists. Steve Irwin was an activist for conservation and animal rights. Its easy to think of him only as the wacky croc hunter, but he was so much more. Those that feel strongly about such issues view his death as a tragedy on many levels.
