Ok everyone, help me stay positive today, please!
Lately, I've been doing A LOT of thinking and looking around at my surroundings, and I've noticed that I am consistently surrounded by negative people. It is really starting to upset me because negativity is SO contagious. I cannot escape it at work this year. It has been a really horrible school year for most of the people in my building, however, I, myself, have had a perfectly normal year with a few exceptions. It's so hard to get up everyday and come to a place where nothing, and I mean NOTHING is positive. It's horrible, and I've realized it's really affecting me to my core.
Then last night, we visited JT's parents, and his mother sat on the couch mumbling, "There's nothing worth living for anymore, " to herself for two hours.
I left there feeling like someone had stomped on my soul.
So, realizing that I am bringing a baby into this world soon, I decided I need to take the necessary steps to make my everyday life more positive. So if anyone can help, in any way, please do! Just offer some encouragement today because it's an uphill battle somedays to stay positive.

I have worked in places like that and I know how hard it is to be positive.
You have so much happiness around you. JT & your baby  for starters. 
You are bringing a into this world that chose YOU to be her mom. I believe that this chose you for all of the positive qualities you possess and knew that she would be loved and wanted by you and JT.
Also, maybe you are at that school and in JT's family to bring forth light into a dark place? I believe this totally. JMO, but I believe that God places positive people in negative situations to be light and love in those situations. It is hard sometimes to be conscious of that when everything is negative around you.
Hang in there & know that you are not the only one who feels like this sometimes.

Good luck and have a great day! I know what you mean about negative people. They can really **** the life out of you and it's easy to adapt that "can't beat 'em, join 'em" mentality. I have really had to grow a thicker skin at my job because it was getting really bad.

There's no shortage of miserable people in this world, this I know for a fact. One thing I've learned though is that happiness is a choice you make, not just a lucky circumstance. There will always be bad things around, bad things will happen to everyone, but it is up to you to look past those bad things and see the good in your life, and let that carry you through the day. It's just too easy to wallow in self pity. Good for you for realizing that you don't want to be brought down by all the negativity around you. It seems to me you've already made the choice. Hold your head high and just remind yourself of all the good things you have going on in your life and of all the wonderful things yet to come!

Thanks for all the support everyone It means a lot to me.
All day, I've been trying to stay as positive as I can, and it really amazes me the road blocks we encounter everyday that try to prevent us from being happy. Just today, alone, I found myself in 6 conversations of people wallowing in their negativity. I've had parents in my face, other teachers in my face, and the saddest of all, negative kids in my classroom all day.
I tried to turn it around as much as I could, and if not ,I just walked away. So keep the positive energy coming because it IS an uphill battle! Thanks again!

I can completely understand what you are going through. The important thing is that you don't want to be part of the negativity. Just think, you're going to have an amazing baby girl soon who will fill your days with love and happiness!
