Cameron/Sheffield Trade...

Anyone see the post today?

Both GM of the Mets and Yankees have been in discussion about a possible trade. Cameron for Sheffield...

Sheffield is a good ballplayer but he has a bad temper. Mike Cameron is good too and a likeable guy I would miss him...

I have mixed feelings about this...

DH and I were discussing it this morning. We were not please to hear about the news of getting Sheffield, apparently he has some ego on him Chat Icon but, then again he is a good player...so not sure about my feelings on this one.

I would miss Cameron as well....

I don't want Sheffield here. Don't need his bad attitude. I think this would be a bad trade for the Mets. The goal is to grow for the future. I like Cameron a lot. If they were to trade him, I would hope they would get some pitching in return and make Diaz the everyday rightfielder.

We should be concentrating on our bullpen, the closers and the relievers...

Re: Cameron/Sheffield Trade...

Sheffield *****. He is old... had a horrible attitude... and would **** at hitter-unfriendly Shea.

Plain and simple. If we deal Cammy for another outfielder... i won't settle on anyone that doesn't have the last name "DUNN".

Re: Cameron/Sheffield Trade...

Now the Bergen Record is reporting it as a "tentative deal".

Record Article

Sheffield for Cammy and Cairo.

Man... if we actually do this deal... the Yanks better pick up at least half of Gary's salary. At least this doesn't include any Mets prospects.

Cammy is exactly what the yanks need... a proven center fielder. They get younger, faster, and MUCH better defensively with this deal. Their offense won't **** without Gary.

Omar Minaya better use this to his advantage and get TOP dollar for any Cammy trade.

I still think we should be pursuing Adam Dunn instead... but Dunn would probably cost us a lot more.

Re: Cameron/Sheffield Trade...

Well this deal isn't happening.

Sheffield just ran his mouth on the radio claiming "if I am not happy... you don't want me on your team".

LOL! Typical Sheffield "cancerous" Language.

Talking about shooting the Yanks right in the foot. Nevermind dealing him to the Mets. Now he just screwed the Yanks cause they won't be able to deal him to ANY TEAM.

Who is going to want to aquire a guy that "won't play for any other team unless they extend his contract". LOL

Re: Cameron/Sheffield Trade...

From what I heard the Mets inquired about it and the Yankees shot it down before Sheff even opened up his mouth.

Funny how the Mets fans don't want him and the Yankee fans don't want to give him up.Chat Icon

That was a comment made by a YES representative. Consider the source. Chat Icon

But anyways... if you honestly think the Yanks are not shopping Sheffield... better think again.

Maybe not to the Mets now... but he is being actively offered in deals to other teams.

Only thing that will keep Sheff in the bronx are the stupid comments he made on the radio yesterday.

But this is great for the Mets anyways... cause all this did for the Mets was up Cameron's value. Now Omar can go to teams and say... well we were talking a player like Sheff for Cammy... what you offering?

Re: Cameron/Sheffield Trade...

I don't think they are shopping Sheff. Trading him doesn't help the OF situation at all. They might fill a hole in center but then they leave themselves a hole in right. Doesn't make any sense to me. Especially when Ichiro is a free agent after this year and we all know how much he loves Bernie.Chat Icon

Re: Cameron/Sheffield Trade...

I think the Yanks want to get rid of Sheff and lately I dont blame them, not only can he not keep his mouth shut but I dont think its professional to say basically I will be miserable at any other team..like he would not play his best..that has to be on peoples minds...

I dont think hes thinking right now about his future too clearly...

Hes not playing as I would expect him to either...
