The energy/pace and that you can get just about anything 24hours a day. Do you ever go away and find out stores/bars/restaurants close sooooo much earlier.

The FOOD... no place else has the best diversity of food.
The diversity of the area... city, wineries, beaches, mountains all within a drive.
The cultural and intellectual opportunities... Broadway, museums, colleges and universities, great hospitals (God forbid).
The diversity of the people.

Dairy Barn!!
Especially with the Baby. I need milk but I don't feel like lugging him in and out of the car just to get milk or whatever I need.
That was my fav thing.. same for my husband... he wishes we had dairy barn down here as well.

I agree! I have travelled a lot and DH and I lived in Europe for 18 months. I don't think there is any place like NY.

What's not to like?? You can go to the beach, the city or upstate. There is so much to see and do here. My family and friends are here and that's where I'm staying.
My friend moved to AZ and I was like...."But you have no beaches!!"

I've heard people say Nyers are rude but it is my opinion that NYers are the friendliest people!!!!
There are so many things I love about NY. I love being near the center of the world (because I feel that NY is the center of the world) !!!!!

I am a Texas Gal but been living in NY for about 7 years now. And I love Manhattan!!!! I love the shopping, the food and the diversity!!! I love the energy of the city!
Most of you girls are going to hate me for saying this but I hate Long Island. I cannot stand it. If it were up to me, DH and I would be living in Manhattan. Don't get me wrong, I love you girls, I just don't care for Long Island. We no longer live in Long Island b/c we recently moved to Albany(cannot stand it here either) in June but we are moving to Houston in December b/c of Dh's job.
I am definetly going to miss NY!!! It is bitter sweet for me. We will be visiting LI quite often b/c dh family lives there. I am going to make it a point to try to buy an apt. in Manhattan for when we visit. That is my dream.

Wow...this is old...but, I'll answer...
I know I haven't lived in NY for over 3 years, but I'd have to say that my favorite thing about living in NY was the food...there's nothing like it here in PA. Sure, I can get good food, but in NY I can always get GREAT food.

Well, I love the theatre, Rockafeller Centre at Christmastime and that we are so close to either the wine country and/or the beach. That being said, I have had enough of the people and the driving and I'm moving down south in the summer.

I agree with this too! and I no longer live in NY and I LOVE where I live now. (Couldn't see myself moving back to NY to be honest).  Regardless of where I live, I will always be a proud New Yawker. There's nothing better than NY.

me too - but I love everything BUT the traffic.
beach, the city, broadway, Kinishes, bagels, pizza, the wineries, the people (i think NYers arent rude at all - in fact, when I was down south in New Orleans, i fould people quite rude!), how most of the houses arent in cookie cutter developments, the schools, the diversity!
