I have a really bizarre question...
and this may be TMI, but DH is having a fit about it, so wondering if you girls have experienced this.
Ever have a breast exam and the doctor pinches your nipples?
I can't say that without laughing, like I'm a 6 year old.

Never had that done, but maybe he was just checking to make sure there was no discharge coming out of your nipples, it is not part of a "usual" breast exam, it is just manual palpitations and strokes, no squeezing, but who knows, every doc is different. A little strange though

I don't know how much of a pinch it is so much as a quick squeeze (maybe?)... they are supposed to do that as part of a normal breast exam to check for any kind of abnormal discharge.

my doctor has never done that to me, but my mom had breast cancer and one of the signs is discharge from the nipple. so i understand why some doctors may do it.

Yes, he is checking for discharge.

Thanks guys, I told DH and he is relieved.
I mean, the doctor had a nurse in the room with him and he yelled out "slight pinch!" and that's the only reason DH knew.
Does the think the doctor is going to be doing something kinky with him in the room??

the first time it happened i was freaked out about it. then found out it is a part of their routine examination. don't worry hon, it's part of the whole making sure we're okay deal.

I've had two lumps removed, and a sonogram needle biopsy, and I don't remember my doctor, surgeon, radiologist, etc. doing that. However, when I had the first one removed, (I was 19) the anesthesiologist came up to me while I was laying on the gurney - he had his mask on and I had NEVER met him - said, "Let me get a quick feel". Um, how about a drink first, buddy.

I have. It may be a post pregnancy thing also. They check for discharge. My ob/gyn is a heterosexual woman, so I'm thinking she's not in it for the kicks.

Ok I thought I was the only nut who just thought of that episode of FG as I was reading through this thread
Back the original question - it is somewhat awkward and odd (but isn't the entire visit to the OB/GYN awkward and odd ), but completely normal. I've had it done during a breast exam and so many of you have already said, it is to check for discharge.

yes, there is an infection that can be caught early... i had one after a biopsy i had for a lump and that is how they found it... but the infection can happen just because. hth
