That is another way of looking at it also. If someone could not afford to do the renovation then this is a good way of looking at it.

Yes, i would want to rip it all out, but if it's clean and everything works, i'd keep it until I was able to redo the entire kitchen.

me too, I thought you were asking ideal siuation. If the price was right in the house, I would do the same things. You can also do cabinet refinishing for not that much money. The new appliances could come later.

No no I was pulling all the threads in together, what people believe must be done, what really needs to be gutted. Thats it... Its an ugly kitchen but as long as you can cook in it, and the house was priced right ( and I dotn mean 300k) then it could work

What would bother me the most is the tiny stove and oven. I had one of those and the ovens are small. Because of thatI would gut so I ccould change the floor plan to accommodate a standard sized oven.
If it was a standard oven then I might do a cheaper re-do.
Depends upon what those cabinets are made out of. Are they a shiny lacquer material? You would at least have to put on new doors and even then they might now match up. IF it's wood you can just paint them or sand them and stain them if they are solid wood underneath... most laquer has particle board underneath so that wouldn't be possible.

i woudlnt base the price soley on what the kitchen looks like, but that is probably going to be $$$$$ to renovate.
but if it was in an area I loved and the price was right i wouldnt hesitate just bc of the kitchen.

pics do lie - FH and I went to see a house - the pics on mls were so awful - the pics looked like they were strected to make the rooms look bigger (like thru a fishbowl or something) it was a riot.

Personally I could live with that kitchen for a year or so before i would go out of my mind. I also want to say - that my kitchen growing up had that same linoleum until i was about 10 or 11. Awful! Just awful!!!!
