The one that I am looking at is a T3 Tourmaline Ionic hair dryer. I normally wouldn't spend this much but my hair dryers break almost yearly and I just want to purchase something good that won't break so fast.

I would splurge for this.

never....unless it has arms and styles my hair for me.

Any simple hairdryer from Ulta or BBB (use the 20% coupons) for $20 is sufficient for me...as long as it has a concentrator.

Re: Would you spend $200 on a hair dryer?

I swear to god I was coming on this morning to post a rave about my Hair Dryer.

I have been going back and forth about getting the Tourmaline dryer for a while, but couldn't justify spending $200

I was on Drugstore.com the other day and I saw that Remington has a $40 version of the Tourmaline.

I have very thick, wavy hair that generally takes 20-30 minutes to blow dry.

I used the Remington dryer for the first time this morning and it took 5 minutes!!! 5 MINUTES!!! That's unheard of - I didn't even know what to do with myself for the extra 15-20 minutes I had this morning!

Plus my hair was silky and smooth without using any product (I wanted to see how it worked naturally). It is a little bulky and heavy, but for 15 extra minutes in the morning, it's totally worth it.

I was so amazed I couldn't wait to get here to post about it and then I saw this!!

I TOTALLY recommend it if you are thinking about the Tourmaline!!

Re: Would you spend $200 on a hair dryer?

Lauren,

You may have saved me $160 dollars! It sounds great. My only fear is that is will break within a year. But for $40 I would buy that... thanks so much for posting this!

I am still not hearing what it does besides dry your hair Chat Icon

Like I said, my Vidal Sasoon 1875 Quiet Dryer that was def under $20 has lasted me at least 10 years.

When I need a new one I would consider spending $40 on the Remington, but what does it do? Is just more powerful therefore less time drying?

Thanks Chat Icon

I bought my Elchin off ebay for about $120 and I can't tell you how happy I am. I can dry my hair in 5 minutes.

What is tourmaline?

Pink tourmalines are precious gemstones with highly unique natural properties that result in the powerful natural emission of ions and far-infrared heat upon being crushed and heated.

Remington puts tourmaline technology to work in this high performance tool to help seal the hair cuticle as the hair is styled -- repelling humidity and static for incredible lasting frizz-free shine.

Re: Would you spend $200 on a hair dryer?

I have gone through three hairdryers in the last year...I'm sick and tired of wondering if it is going to work...PLUS I have long thick hair - if I don't get a good blow dryer that produces enough heat it can take me an hour to blow it out...so YES I would DEFINATELY spend that much money on a blow - dryer

Re: Would you spend $200 on a hair dryer?

Here is the description of the hair dryer from Beatuy.com:

Splurge-a-holics know this 1800-watt revolutionary miracle dries hair up to 60% faster without damage, leaving stressed tresses smooth, shiny, and static-free. Plus, it's (almost) as light as air.

What makes this dryer special?
Infused with 100% crushed Tourmaline jewels, T3 delivers maximum negative ions and infrared heat (0.06mA and voltage of 0.6V). This means lightning fast drying and healthier, shinier, more moist hair. It is infused into the dryer using our own proprietary, patent-pending production method.

T3 Tourmaline is an entirely new approach to drying hair. No more dried out, frizzy hair. Tourmaline is fast, nourishing and conditioning.

Why use infused Tourmaline?
Tourmaline is the world's most potent ionic mineral and is also known for its incredible infrared prowess. Tourmaline negative ions quench hair ~ smoothing the cuticle for shine and eliminating static electricity. At the same time, Tourmaline infrared heat penetrates deep into hair to lock in moisture and to dry it safely and quickly from the inside out.

What is Tourmaline exactly?
Truly amazing, Tourmaline works by itself, just like a magnet. It naturally emits whopping amounts of negative ions and infrared heat. It gives you the fastest drying without damage and increased moisture. There is nothing else like it.

Features:

Infused with 100% crushed Tourmaline jewels
Delivers the most ionic and infrared benefits of any dryer
1800-watt power
Professional-grade motor
Very lightweight, efficient design (a mere 13 oz.)
Complete with attachments, filters, etc.
Benefits: (in laboratory tests conducted in a controlled environment)

Quickest drying (up to 60% faster)
Healthy drying ~ adds moisture, sheen and softness
Does not damage hair like other dryers
Eliminates static electricity and frizziness
The lightest professional dryer available
Comprehensive 48-month warranty
Tips on Ionic and Infrared Technology:

Dissipates water for faster drying
Delivers heat gently to hair shaft
Breaks down water for better moisture penetration
Smoothes hair surface for shiny, silky look
Closes the cuticle layer to protect hair

Re: Would you spend $200 on a hair dryer?

Considering the fact that I don't use a hair dryer, nope. If it was something I used every single day though, I'd consider spending that much.

Re: Would you spend $200 on a hair dryer?

That's it!!

For you ladies with wavy/curly hair that you blow straight, the best way I can describe my hair today is that it's like "second day hair".

You know how the second day after you've blown it out it's so much smoother and shinier. That's what it's like today. When I run my hands through it, it's perfectly straight and smooth - no bumps or frizzies.

Re: Would you spend $200 on a hair dryer?

If the less expensive one works just as well then that's great. I would spend $200 on any product that makes my frizz hair easier to style.

I actually spent $80 on a hair brush once.
