Check out what I just finished - Anyone have a hubby into POKER ??
I have been working on this project for the past two weeks. I just finished building my first poker table.
I think the table came out pretty good. I am very surprised at the result as I am not handy whatsoever, and I have never really built anything before in the past.
Its a full sized 98" long table. It has a soft black velveteen playing surface, and a foam cushioned black rail. The racetrack has jumbo sized cupholders to fit just about any sort of drink or pint glass.
I did 5 coats of poly for the racetrack, sanding between each coat. It has a "wet glossy shine" to it.
I might end up selling this table and building another one. I am not sure yet... this table is very big and I am not sure where I will be storing it yet. So if you know anyone looking for a custom professional poker table... let me know.
My wife was a HUGE contributor to this table. She helped me out quite a bit with the table and had to deal with me and my fustrations for the past two weeks building this.  I am a very grateful husband.
I am hosting my first poker night at my house tonight. I am sure this table will be a big hit. Here are some pictures.

Looks great! That thing is huge! My DH has one that folds up for easier storage.

If anyone has a hubby that plays hold-em... drop me a FM and I can try to include him in our next set of games. Hell if you play hold-em and want in our games... we welcome all females as well.
We play once every few months... we play no-limit up to $50 buy-ins with a $50 tournament in the end.
No major stakes or anything like that.... but no penny games either.
Cool, friendly group of guys.

I see you used a folding table....was it an oval one? or rectangular and you just modified it?

I actually just bought the folding legs at home depot. I didn't use an existing table and modify it. This puppy was built from SCRATCH. 
I used three layers of 3/4" plywood to build the table. I attached the folding legs to the plywood baseboard.

I specifcally said above we allow females to our games.
Hell... we will accept males, females, monkeys, dogs, cats, whatever. Just bring cash and you are good.

I keep telling him if he agrees to start house hunting again we can get a house with a big game room for him and get him a poker table.
