OMGGGGG I look deformed again! back from Doc-update pg 2
I woke up this morning and my face around my mouth is reddish/purple and swollen and HOT. It feels like the skin is splitting, like a bad bad sunburn. I called the Doc, I'm going in at 11:30.
I don't know what to DO...I've HAD IT with this shiat! This first happened before Thanksgiving, and it's been happening since. No medication they give me is working--- they say it looks like an allergic reaction BUT it pops up randomly.

I have a HUGE family party at Villa Lombardi's on Sat. We're taking family portraits because of Grandpa's recent situation....and I look like the man with the face eating tumor on TLC. OMG.

I do keep a journal - and I didn't eat anything 'weird' yesterday at all! I didn't change detergents, my sheets are clean, used the same face cream, same chapstick, same face wash, same soap, same EVERYTHING....nothing out of the ordinary!

I feel your pain... a few months ago I kept breaking out in hives and I had NO idea what from! I'm still not positive, but my dr's seem to think it was an allergic reaction to a generic acetominophen. Something in the capsule didn't react well with my body. Have you been taking any over the counter meds that you don't normally take?
Does it hurt? is it itchy?
Sorry you have to deal with this.. I know it S*CKS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes it hurts - it's itchy and hot, and feels like a BAD sunburn. I took some advil yesterday...
Ok, one of the major side effects to Advil is Hives. Could this be a big cluster of hives I wonder? Have you taken Benedryl? Does it go away with the benedryl?
Def. keep us posted on your progress!!!
Edited to mention you can suddenly wake up and be allergic to advil even if you've been taking it all your life.

Nic, what you describe, and from what i can see from your pic, it looks very similar to what I used to get when i was in grade school. the ONLY thing i remember ever working for me was, believe it or not, Medicated Vaseline. My mom's neighbor at the time, SWORE on that stuff, so my mom gave it a try. she'd apply a thin layer of vaseline over the affected area, and within a day or two, it would dry up, and flake off. within a week, my face would be smooth as silk again. don't know if it will work for you, but just thought i'd share!!
eta: i used to get in on my face too, in the same area as in your pic.
