Emma Catherine arrived a little early....
She arrived on Monday, November 28th @ 8:32pm by c-section. She was 11 days early (my due date was 12/9)... and weighed 8lbs 6ozs, and is 20.5 inches long. She is so pretty - with the longest eye lashes I've ever seen. I will post pictures and the story shortly...
My labor story......
Late Sunday night I started to have contractions. I ignored them because I honestly thought they were Braxton Hicks. I'd read that they would get more intense as you got closer to your due date. Anyway... Around 1:30am I woke up having to use the bathroom (again) and was still having contractions (which I continued to ignore thinking they were BH's) I laid awake in bed unable to fall asleep until about 5:00am when I felt a trickle down my leg. Got up out of bed went to the bathroom (thinking I just needed to pee) and felt another trickle. I went to the bathroom again, and when I came back to bed as soon as I laid back down and changed positions, my water broke. It was a small gush - then another small gush. I woke my DH up, and he told me that all I did was wet my pants.  I kept telling him that my water broke, and I guess after I changed my pad for the 4th time in 30 mins. he started to think that maybe I did too, so we called my doctor. Since I was not dialated at my 38 week appt. which was only a couple of days before, the doctor had me come into the office to see his partner (my dr. was on call - thank God!). We got to the office and the doctor did a sonogram - the baby's head was still low and everything looked good. Then he did the internal..... that's when my water really broke - all over the poor dr.'s shoes and office. LOL! I was totally mortified!!!! It was like the flood gates opened up. After reassuring me that this sort of thing happened all the time, he told me that my cervix was very thin but that I still wasn't dialated - they were going to induce me at the hospital, and I would have a pretty easy labor considering the head was engaged.
DH and I arrived at the hospital at 9:30am and started the induction process - I forget all the names but the first thing they did to dialate me was put a string into my cervix. I sat in bed w/this for hours. Only to dialate about 1 or 2 centimeters. Then they gave me pictoden (SP???) - After being on this for 7 hours and having regular and steady contractions for 7 more hours, they decided to do the c-section because they couldn't determine the cause of my not dialating. I only got to 4 centimeter's.
I was so scared & upset to have the c-section, but my dr.'s were great, and Emma Catherine arrived safely!
We haven't downloaded all of the pics - here are a few from the day she was born.
