When you hear neighbors fighting
do you try to tune them out or listen harder? I'm bad, I will mute the TV or shut the lights to watch.

we do that too!!! DH and i will lower the blinds, shut the lights off, and then peek through the blinds

I am so guilty of eavesdropping is not even funny. DH tends to hate this about me and then he got nerves to ask me if I do not know how to mind my own business.

oh the whole family meets in my mom's bedroom window to watch. we have a great view of the neighbors across the street. they have drag out, throw their son's stuff on the lawn (including his playboy collection) on the lawn....
he's also gotta be at least 35 years old. its great.

If our neighbors fought so loud that I could hear them, I'd definitely listen in to make sure everyone was ok.

We totally listen
We had one this weekend with a guy and his teenager. The kid left and the father came after him and they were yelling in front of my house. I wanted to tell them to hang out a minute while I pop some popcorn

Definitely listen harder, but I almost never hear my neighbors. I love eavesdropping on people's conversations in restaurants, though.

Good answer I do the same thing, I listen to make sure someone isn't getting out of control or being hurt.
Some years ago though, I'll admit, I'd listen harder just for the heck of it.

In the house where I grew up, my neighbor had a 45 year old son who was a junkie.
Very regularly they would have knock-down screaming fights adn she would kick him out.
One day, in the POURING rain, she took ALL of his clothes, and dragged them around the corner to a park, where he'd hang out and get into trouble, and left them in a huge, muddy, disgusting pile.
When he got home that night we were scared--we definitely listened to make sure she was all right, because he was banging on the doors for her to let him in.
You couldn't NOT listen, they were so loud.
You know, I think he got clean, got married, changed his whole life around and then died of a heart attack or something!!!

Can't do that here where I am now since we all live so far apart, but on LI at DH's parents house his block was so close together and you could here someone sneeze. The 2 neighbors across the street would always fight with each other, so when the show was on we all would just go outside and sit on the stoop to listen and watch
