Kinda off topic but I was watching a show on ESPN about racism in soccer and it was pretty sad all the bad things that go on because the color of their skin. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I've never really noticed racism in soccer because of skin color,in my country we gives props to any great player. Doesn't matter if he's black, white or purple.
I hate the violence in soccer Chat Icon I would love to go to live games but I think its not safe for women(men either but...) Too many countries hating on others.

thats what I dont like, people take the sport to extremes sometimes Chat Icon to some it becomes obsession...

DH gets mad because sometimes I'll root for the underdog since the usual winners are Italy, Brazil, & France a few years back. DH was hurting that time France beat Brazil.

No drama intended but, its amazing how World Cup is just bypassed by most Americans in general. Its the one oppertunity to join in with the rest of the world (there is NOT a country not into it) but we (and I say we because I am American too) choose to ignore the whole hype. Chat Icon I think it sadly adds to the negative world view of the US.

I think it's because it's not the national sport. People didn't grow up watching & loving soccer like many other countries do. I think this is a big reason as to why.

it would get quite boring if the same teams won all the time... thats why teams like Cameroon were so great to watch in 1990, noone expected them to do so well...

I'm hoping to watch and will probably support England. My boss is being brought by private jet by a firm we use in the UK to the England v. Sweden match in Cologne. I'm jealous but he deserves itChat Icon

True. I went to my first pro game before I even went to school.
But look at the Japaneese.. they hosted last time. If they can get into it,why not us here? I strongly doubt soccer was their nations sport Chat Icon

well it was awesome when the US hosted back in 94. So many people supported the games, and then we started w/ state teams. Then the women's teamcame into play and it was such a BIG step for women & the U.S. IMO Chat Icon

but the same argument can be made for hockey, why is hockey not so popular as other sports in the United States... it is fast paced, exciting and yet a lot of people like to watch baseball instead of hockey (no idea why? Chat Icon )

100% true. Then it died down Chat Icon
Do you think its a sport where the mens team doesn't really excel at,so thats why the US isn't so supportive?
Really no drama girls, just a discussion I've had with many friends in recent days.

sadly, they work great as individual players but they leave a lot to be desired as a team.Chat Icon
