I need hugs **UPDATED**
We had to leave our older cat at the Vets last night because she has a sever infection in her mouth. She basically has the worse case of gingivitis she can have.
They had to put her under anesthesia (sp?) this morning and clean her mouth and seal her teeth. They had to take a biopsy of her month because the Vet told us it can sometimes lead to cysts and 100% of the time, when a cat has a cyst in its mouth, it is cancerous and very aggressive. So please keep Cinders in your prayers. She is 6 years old and it was wierd to have the Vet tell me she is middle aged!! My parents got her from me when I had my accident 6 years ago..I had fallen 17 feet off a scaffolding and broken both heels and ankles and was in a wheelchair for 6 months. She was the only thing that kept me sane at the time!!
The vet just called and said they want to do some bloodwork..so I authorized it. We can at least hopefully bring her home tonight so she can sleep in the bed with us. I barely slept last night because she wasnt with us!!
*UPDATE*
She is still not home!
She was taking a little longer to come out of anesthesia than normal so they wanted to keep her there. THe vet said it was so bad that the gingivits actually grew OVER some of her teeth. He didnt see any cysts, but he sent off a biopsy just in case. She will have to go back to the vet every 3 weeks to get injections of steroids to control the infection. But, we will have to watch her side effects from that. (Liver & kidney damage, heart trouble, etc)
Worse comes to worse, and it doesnt work, all her teeth will have to be taken out!! The vet said we will wait to see how she reacts to the medication, but he said it was a BAD infection. THe night in the vet will be good for her because they can give her more meds and fluids through IV so she can be stronger. I can *hopefully* pick her up tomorrow afternoon!

my cat gunnar had a terrible tooth infection 2 years ago...and he was at the vet overnight for it...it was terrible and i was terribly worried about him aslso.
i'm sure your cat will be fine!!!
