Re: Good Sam or Southside

I didn't say the women who deliver there are trash. So I think you need to re-read what I wrote.
Most of the people who are brought there are frequent fliers. They are constantly high on this drug and flipping out or so drunk they are puking over themselves again and again. That is trash, especially when you bring them to the hospital to get help and they walk out. Hello? I woke up at 3 am in the morning to get your sorry a$$ out of the street and you are going to walk out. Volunteer in the area, and you will fully understand what I am talking about when I say we bring the head-cases and trash there.
what dept do you bring them to?
The ER? Psych?
what does that have to do with Southside for maternity?
I think your opinion is jaded and so came across a little harsh is all...
Off topic, but referring to ANYONE as trash or a head case is rude and kinda immature...
maybe you should re-consider your type of work?
I worked with the mentally ill and wouldnt dream to call anyone, even the most cracked out , drugged up, person if ill a headcase...
To scare someone away from the hospital is what your doing, when the situations of maternity have nothing to do with what your talking about?

I use to be an volunteer EMT and I know that we bring all the head cases to SouthSide. They have a pysc unit there. From my own personal opinion a lot of trash goes there, I'll stick with Good Sam.
The maternity ward is completely separate from the rest of the hospital. Each baby has a device attached to their belly button for security. If any baby is brought past any doors that exit the maternity ward, all the doors lock and they cannot exit. Also, no one can enter into the maternity ward without a visitors tag and must be buzzed in by the nurses. They go to extrmeme lengths to make sure that your baby is safe.
do they do this at Good Sam as well? A friend had this on her baby at Stonybrook and I really liked it.
yes...the doors locl at Good Sam as well..and I described my crazy vistors ordeal..but the bottom line is its for safety reasons. The nurses buzz you in and out... The maternity ward has its own elevator banks as well..
when did I say the babies weren't safe? again that wasn't what I was implying.
Your comment has nothing to do with the maternity ward. I wanted to let the person know who posted this question that their child would be safe there, after you said the hospital is full of "trash" and "head cases".

an OPINION is strictly that an OPINION. why post a question on a message board if you aren't willing to hear the good and the BAD that people have to say. I gave my honest feelings about how I perceive the hospital. I'm sorry if I am too straightforward for people who like to sugar coat everything. I live in the real world and am happy to say I will speak my mind without pleasing everyone.
If you read the earlier post I wrote what a nurse friend told me, which I knew nothing about because I recently asked her the same question that the poster here had.
From a personal perspective, that is how I view the hospital. Like it? Hate it? What I am going to do, at the point in time, I liked to help people who WANTED help, not those who had nothing better to do and then refuse help.

Well, it was easy to misunderstand, especially considering the main purpose of this post; trying to find out which hospital is better to deliver in and has a better maternity ward. The things you discussed have absolutely nothing to do with delivering a baby.
