Re: OK tell me why you LOVE Long Island...
I live in DC (actually arlington) and seriously, although i like it, i miss Long Island so much.
-My family is there -the food is the best. I CANNOT find pizza anywhere in DC like it, as well as bagels and Malverne Bakery which I miss more than anything (especially being pregnant, lol!) -the beaches -the easy commute right into manhattan, my favorite city ever.
I can't wait to go to Long Island next week!! I miss it very much

The only thing I will miss about LI (aside from family and friends of course) is the bagels. 26 years and thats it. So sad.

Re: OK tell me why you LOVE Long Island...
My family is here. The commute to NYC isn't too bad. Close to everything you need, including airports & beaches.
But I hate that it's so darn crowded and there is traffic at all times of the day!

Re: OK tell me why you LOVE Long Island...
The beaches
The climate (4 true seasons)
Proximity to NYC - and all the theater, music and culture you could ever want
The schools
Lots of opportunities for small business.
The main thing I don't like is a lack of major employers, I hope to see Nassau or Suffolk offer some tax incentives to draw some large companies. We really misssed out on an exodus from NYC after 9/11 and Jersey and Westchester got so much. Big business would ease our tax buren, offer more jobs and keep young professionals here that are forced to leave to be able to afford housing.

Re: OK tell me why you LOVE Long Island...
other than my dad that still lives in Pt. Jeff... that's really it.
I grew up on Long Island, and moved to NJ about 8 years ago. Honestly, I find it much easier to get into NYC from here. I don't think I could ever move back to LI. I like it here better, and when I moved here, I never thought I would because I said I would always be a Lawnguyland girl

Re: OK tell me why you LOVE Long Island...
I love being five minutes from the beach. I like the east end of Long Island and all the wineries and tours and tastings and all that.

Re: OK tell me why you LOVE Long Island...
The one thing I like about LI compared to NYC is that you can actually park in LI by your house and most stores have parking lots.

Re: OK tell me why you LOVE Long Island...
Hmmm? Don't know that I really do LOVE Long Island. If money was no object, I'd be living in a brownstone in NYC, but reality being what it is, here's what I LIKE about LI:
Access to NYC Beaches Good shopping Central to my entire family Food Diversity (we're not all Idaho white or "granola" as my best friend likes to say)
