it depends on the location - the lower back is painful, but the hips aren't so bad.
The only thing going on these hips is diet I'm thinking more along the lines of the shoulder area, etc.

I think its totally different for everyone.
For example my most painful spots were:
the outline of my gun (tummy)
my wings (upper back)
kanji (back of neck)
and the ones that didnt hurt at all were:
mom (inner wrist)
pj guy (inner ankle)
star (lower back)
qoute (inner forearm)
fairy (hip)
while others may have the opposite experience.
it also depends on how heavy of a hand the artist has.
they do a line, then stop. so if youre in pain you can take a second to catch your breathe.
i like the pain though!

I would absolutely LOVE to, but I'm going to wait until
a) After this baby is born and
b) After I've lost about 20 lbs.
I'm not even sure where I'd get one or what I'd get, but it's been almost 3 years since I've gotten one now and I'm dying for another.

I have to say i agree...
although i only have one. And i got a flower added on a few years later..
Mine is on the lower back, it is small. But i could have fallen asleep when it was getting done...

funny you should ask this! i got my extra check today so i am going to go to 2 different tattoo shops tomorrow to set up an appointment.
(the guy i reallllly want to go to is designing the new Camel cig ads, so he isnt taking many appointments right now  )

When I read this, it reminded me of my sister. She had wings put on her upper back also. I went with her and she was in so much pain, she didn't think she could finish it! I had to talk her through it. As I said, mine is on my lower back and that didn't hurt badly at all. I was surprised that she went back for more afterwards! But, as you said, some people actually enjoy that feeling.

So..... i made the appointment!
sorta.
Like i said, my artist hasnt really been doing tattoos right now because he is doing the "Camel Wides" ciggarette ads....
Well, i went to the shop and he was actually there! (its hard to catch him)
and so i was talking to him and i asked "Youre not really taking appointments right now are you?"
he told me he isnt, but he could fit me in (if i wanted to wait) until the end of May (probably June i think) otherwise he'd set me up with another artist.
i decided to wait for him though.
So,.... i am going to stop into the shop in a couple of weeks and touch base.
I'm so excited!

No, I'm sorry that I don't. She's not even in the country right now, so unfortunately, I couldn't get one either. They are very pretty- fairy-like. They have different colors in them and he did something really cool to the tips. Sorry I can't be of help.
