Thank you to everyone who posted for your support and understanding. I have to say that it makes me feel a lot better to know that we are not alone and that many of us are dealing with the same issue. I respect other people's choice to have children, they should respect that we are waiting and may or may not have them. As long as no one is getting hurt, live and let live!

My old boss and her husband decided not to have kids. I'm sure they caught a lot of grief fo it, especially since they were high school sweethearts and have been together forever, but they absolutely adore their life. They love playing with their nieces and nephews, but they don't regret their decision at all. They are pretty well off, travel often and simply enjoy their life together. Having/not haviong children is a very personal decision. As long as you and DH are on the same page it's noone's place to judge.

I used to say that I wasn't sure if I want kids. In the past year I have become certain that I do want them. But I totally respect those who do not want them. I think about how life could be without them...travel a lot, freedom to do whatever whenever...
It is very appealing...
So to those who are sure of their decisions, good for you. There is nothing wrong with it.

I've been getting a lot of this lately too. My favorite response after I tell someone that I don't think I want kids is "well, it's all about having the right guy" I've been with MY GUY for 5 years, and who the HE$$ are they to tell me that my guy isn't the right guy. It's so frustrating. I've never had that maternal urge in any way. I love my friends baby, and our neices, but not so much that i crave one of my own.

Obviously this post does not apply to me since I just had a baby, but I cannot stand people that have to comment to others about not having kids! Its no ones business and they need to butt out!

DH & I do not have the baby bug and are not sure if we ever will. I am honest with the fact that I know that can change but as of right now, we are not ttc or planning to. Whenever I say this to ppl who inquire about when we are having kids, they give me so much grief. Why is that? I am very happy for people who want children and have them but if we end up not having children, why the grief? I think the worst thing would be to have them and not want them or do it because it is the next "step" - do you find this too?

i think you know what you want and are doing exactly that...
NOTHING wrong with it.
My best friend doesn't want kids...She likesher life and just doesn't have that need...
to each their own
You are being smart and responsible IMO!

I think some people just cant see past what THEY want and see no every one wants the same thing out of life.
I see nothing wrong with choosing not to have kids, to me it like choosing whether to do anything in yoru life, its your decision.
What I ahte is I have 2-3 friends who dont want kids and one has one, doesnt ever want another and all I ever hear , is whay would you want this, you cant do this, or that...and so I think strong feelings can go either way and its sad not everyone can just stop being judgemental..

Well said Daniela. I also think that those who ask these dumb questions also need to realize - what if you guys are struggling with TTC and may not be able to get PG if you wanted to.
Don't let them get to you, you and Rob owe no explanations on why you are living your life the way you both want to
