Re: Are you a CARD person?

I don't care if I get a card but I love finding the right card to give to someone. I always stop and look at the selection and I buy them with speicifc people in mind. I spend $25 a pop, belong to the hallmark price club thing where you get a free card after buying 4 or 5. I can't help myself. When I see the right card for the right person, I want them to have it. I bought DH an anniversary card already (it's in April) and I bought him a birthday card (it's in June). If I find 2 great cards for the same person, I buy them and send them both.

I have one of those card organizers that I check periodically.

Re: Are you a CARD person?

No, I'm not a card person.

and

No, I wouldn't get mad if someone didn't get me a card (with a gift or not).

DH is a card person with his family for bdays, anniversarys, holidays, you name it. But now that we're married, he expects me to do the card-thing. I don't even buy cards for my own family. I hate the added responsibility of being the card person for him.

Re: Are you a CARD person?

I am totally a card person. I love finding the perfect card for someone (and more often than not, it doesn't come from Hallmark but rather some shop in Huntington that I love) and writing some short sentiment in it.

I don't expect them...but I do notice when I don't receive one or when someone just signed their name.

But, I'm weird Chat Icon

I love receiving cards - hate sending 'em. I know it's a bad way to be, but I'm lazy! Chat Icon

Re: Are you a CARD person?

My stepmother is a card Nazi. She made such a big huge deal of it growing up that I've kind of come to hate them, unless they are unique or someone wrote something special inside.

Re: Are you a CARD person?

i think cards are the biggest waste of money and i could care less if i get one from other people, but i always feel obligated to get cards for other people and try to get "good" cards that fit the person.

I don't like cards, they just end up in the garbage... my family has never been about cards... my DH's family on the other hand must own stock in Hallmark, they give them out for EVERY occasion.Chat Icon

Re: Are you a CARD person?

I love getting cards from DH. I don't like getting cards from other people only because then I feel guilty about throwing it out. There's no point in saving cards, but I can't stand the though of spending $3-4 on a card you write three lines in and discard!

I am totally a card person. I like buying or making cards for people that express exactly how I feel. I tend to mail cards to people for many different reasons. I love getting cards and save most of them. I am glad I did because I have some very special momentos from family members and friend who are no longer here.

Re: Are you a CARD person?

Card person here ... very big on sending them for occassions (or any reason).

LOVE to get them (well, love to get mail) but am not disappointed when I don't (unless I don't get from DH but he is now well aware that they mean more to me then flowers or something like that).

And as far as with a gift ... hmm, I'd say I almost always give a card w/shower gifts and probably not with birthday gifts because they are usually exchanged one on one rather then put on a pile at a party.

ETA: According to my CVS card, I've purchased 73 Hallmark cards YTDChat Icon and I've probably gotten coupons for at least ten free! As a matter of fact, I have a coupon in my bag now!!Chat Icon

Re: Are you a CARD person?

I'm totally a card person - I love them - but I wouldnt get angry if someone gave me a gift without a card.

But if DH didnt give me a card I'd be hurt. His cards are usually way better than his gifts - he writes these wonderful cards - and then will give me sports bras and running shoes for my birthday. oh well - at least the cards are romantic.

Re: Are you a CARD person?

its so funny you mention this...

I enjoy getting cards from my close friends and family. they usually write meaningful thngs in them.

my new bf gave me a gift and card for my bday and I was disappointed because there wasnt anything written in it!! I am the type of person that would rather get a meaningful card than a gift (well sometimes!Chat Icon )

I am a card person. I love giving them and don;t mind recieving them.
I do admit though, I don't spend $3.99 on a card. We have a few 50% off stores around here and thats exactly where I go.

Re: Are you a CARD person?

not really. but you know what really peaves me? when I get a card that just say s "happy birthday" or something and it is just signed from the people that sent it. WRITE SOMETHING! What is the point of a card that has nothing written on it? Why go through the trouble of addressing a card and mailing it if you aren't going to say anything....that has always gotten to me. If I send a card it always includes a note with an update on how I am doing, etc....I try to make it interesting.

Re: Are you a CARD person?

YES! I have to give a card with every gift I give.

Sometimes the cards are a lot more meaningful than the present itself. I liken it to being considerate, I guess.

Re: Are you a CARD person?

YES....my mother and grandmother are so they instilled this in me...MY DH is however NOT a card person...it took me a while to get used to this...

My mom sends cards for EVERYTHING..new car, new job, thinking of you, praying for you, and so does my grandma

Re: Are you a CARD person?

I'm only a card person with respect to DH. Otherwise, I could care less whether I get a card. I usually don't keep any cards except for the ones DH gives me.
