Sweet 16 Help! PLEASE READ EDITED INFO

A co-worker of mine is looking for a theme for a sweet 16...do you have any ideas? Chat Icon

ETA: Ok, I'm back with more questions. My friend decided that she wants a princess themed sweet 16. She wants a different invitation. For example, she went to a party where movies were the theme and the invitation was a movie ticket. She wants something like that, something people will remember when they leave her party.

Does anyone have any suggestions... I appreciate all input Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Sweet 16 Help!

one friend of mine did "candy" ... each table had a different candy centerpiece. The girl's name was spelled out in "Dots" on the wall, they had a popcorn maker and a lollypop tree - there is actually a lot you can do.

My boss threw a "designer" party for his daughter. Each table was a different designer - burbury, louis vitton, coach, etc ... and they used fake wallets, change purses and scarfs to decorate and for favors.

You can do a Cinderella theme

She's into chorus (loves singing), not a big sports fan. Likes music and movies.

How about an Oscar's theme? or Music awards?

Re: Sweet 16 Help!

How about a movie theme? Each table has a different movie that she loves as it's theme ...
example off the top of my head: clueless, 16 candles, jaws.

Or just use the theme "movies" ... use film negatives decorations and movie cameras, lots of gold & silver.

50's party

80's party

I just saw an idea online. A bubble bath theme. Rent a bubble machine (or a dj that has one). Decorate the tables in blue table clothes, use rubber duckies and soap products as the centerpieces/favors, use white or frosted white baloons as the bubbles. tell everyone to come in theit PJ's and slippers and dance the night away.

Re: Sweet 16 Help!

My sister went to a costume party. No where near Halloween, just all the girls parties were all the same and this friend wanted something different.

They always say it was the best party.

Re: Sweet 16 Help!

One of my students is going to a 70's themed sweet 16 and that sounds like a fun idea. You can have a big disco ball, everyone can dress up, abd you could just decorate evrything neon!

Re: Sweet 16 Help! PLEASE READ EDITED INFO

how about making the invites in the shape of jewels...diamonds, sapphires, rubies?

they can have the favor be one of those photographers that puts the pic on a fake magazine cover

each table can be named for a famous princess or royalty (ie: disneys' princesses, real fairy tale princesses, etc.)

What about a rolled up scroll- like a "royal decree"? The kind with the two sticks on the end. She can have the invite in some fancy caligraphy like in olden times....

Re: Sweet 16 Help! PLEASE READ EDITED INFO

My niece just had her sweet 16. She had a cinderella theme. One of her friends parents had made drawings for different characters in cinderella. It was beautiful. Then they painted them. She had on a beautiful light blue gown. As far as favors, they did glass slippers with blue M&MS that had her name on them. And Centerpieces were castles.

But now I have a question. Do you girls think that people are getting carried away with sweet 16's . I remember having a party but not like today. These kids are having their parties at wedding halls. My niece had proffesional pictures taking from Patken. She looked like a bride. Not to mention the fact that her family was announced walking in like a bridal party would. Video, dj, etc. My brother in law paid some big money for this party.
Im afraid for when my daughter gets to that age, which is only 6 years. Right now she wants to go to Hawaii and have a partyChat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

That's a great idea, I was just playing around with it. I'm hoping she likes it.

I even tried a poem along with it.....

A birthday we celebrate, Daphnee is the Queen
Come and join us as she turns Sweet Sixteen

What do you think?
