No, I was away at camp for my 16th. I went to boarding school and no one I knew had sweet sixteens, but we did have debutante balls and cotillions.

I had a bash at the Metropolitian in Glen Cove. I remember being so excited because the guy that I loved for years came - you would have thought that McDreamy had shown up!
It was like a mini wedding.

Yes, and I did NOT want to have one. My parents gave me three options...go to Europe, have a sweet sixteen or take the money they would have spent on a party.
So...I chose Europe. They then said NO. So I said, ok, I'll take the money. They said NO. So I said NOTHING. And then my mom said, NO. So sweet sixteen it was for me.
I HAVE to dig up pictures, though because it was not your average sweet sixteen. I did everything ANTI-sweet sixteen. I wore a leather dog collar and knee high steel toe boots with a kickass Betsy Johnson outfit, and I threated the guy at the restaurant that if anyone sang Happy Birthday to me I would hurt them. Then I gave the DJ all of my hardcore and punk cds and 100 bucks to not play anything that my mom requested.

Yeah, I had one, but it was honestly the most boring party ever. I had nothing, since I insisted on paying for it myself. I told my parents if I couldn't have things my way, I didn't want a party, so they told me I could pay for it myself and have it anyway I wanted it. It turned out horrible and I learned my lesson. Hardly anyone came to my graduation party because my sweet 16 was so bad. I had a rep.

I had a few friends sleep over. It was not fun!
ETA: I wanted the party and didn't get one. So, I had to make up for it with my wedding!

I didn't want a party but I took 5 of my friends with me to go horseback riding for the weekend at Pinegrove~upstate NY.
OMG... i Loved Pinegrove!!! hat was our 'big' family vacation for years when i was little. my grandparents used to take us up there
