My MIL thinks she won 1 million $
She entered an online contest and got a letter and a check for $4100 from Fleet bank saying to cash this check (which it cashed straight to her account) and they said to Western Union the $ to this lady to cover taxes or something and she gets $1 million put into her account??? She opened a separate account just in case and thinks she really won! Could this be real? I can't believe it.

Sounds like a major SCAM to me. You should NEVER wire money to anybody... regardless of what you win.
Check it out bigtime before you do anything.

Totally sounds like a SCAM to me! She should be VERY VERY careful with giving out her bank account information!!

She opened a seperate account just to deposit the check at a diferent ban. I said the same thing to her!

Actually it isn't weird. Its a phishing scam it sounds like.
Take it to your lawyer to have it checked out for its authenticity.

SCAM, if she won money she would not have to wire money to anyone else. TRust me, eventually the IRS would find her to pay the taxes.

The same thing happened to my mom and she tried to get the money without giving the bank account info or giving money and she got nothing.. it is a scam.

I bet if she were to research the sponsors of the contest she would not find something legit. Glad you told her not to do it!!
