Need to vent about my Brother- update- first post
it must be nice to be him- with my dad constantly bailing him out of situations
he is suppose to be buying my Dad's car from him- and he can't even get approved for the loan- with my Dad as the co-signer
now I just get an email from him that he just put an offere on a 3 bedroom/3.5 bath, townhouse in West Palm beach
it must be nice- since I know for a fact my Dad pays their rent
and I bet when he can't make the payments- my Dad will
update- of course he was approved for a mortgage- what is wrong with this picture
a bank is willing to lend my brother $455K- but not $20K for a car-
Jake always says it's easier to get a house then a car- but come on

my sister is the same way. My grandmother always gave her $$. She moved to Illinois and decided she hated it and left after a month. who paid her rent until her roomates could find aother tenant?? Grandma! and my sister up and moved to virginia to be with her boyfriend (don't know why she just didnt move there in the first place) a month after that!
Id rather do things on my own than depend on her!
but i know how it feels and it still

I doubt he will be- unless my Dad co-signs for him
he has some great plan about getting a mortgage- then taking out a home equity loan to pay the mortgage- and by the way- he is a mortgage broker- not a good one- but he is one

You know what they say, you can't fix stupid.
Your dad will see the big picture when it comes down to it. Things have changed for him. From what you have said, he is in a different place now.

he still hasn't sold his house up here- he is planning to gut his new condo
his new car is being built right now- my Dad needs to spend his money on himself
I just think he has alot of nerve putting offers on things that he can't afford

the only real money he makes is from giving private lacross lesson to rich kids in palm beach-
if my Mother was alive right now- she would kill him

Beth, he will have to answer for himself eventually. People like that don't go one forever being an idiot. Something will happen to him.
And eventually, he'll meet your mom again and she'll kick his arse!

I can relate, for some reason my parents paid off my brother's debts for him. (And we are not talking small amounts either) He is the only boy in the family, my parents are tougher with my sister and I.

My sister does similar things, she is such a brat, I swear! She has my parents paying for her apartment that she isn't currently residing in b/c she is always at their beach house in Montauk!
It makes DH want to spit when I tell him the things that she does, he was on his own at 16 and lived in his car for christsakes, and my sister ******* when she can't buy a new shirt at Anthropologie!

Hmmm.... sound like my dad and brother!
Although my brother is prob much younger (he is 20) and isnt trying to buy a house....
He is always inbetween jobs- whenever he cant pay a bill, my parents pay it for him, he dosent go to school, he dosent pay rent, he dosent help around the house.... but then my dad tells me today he is giving him 6k for a new car...
Because my brother (whose been caught drinking and driving more than one) wrecked the 1st one they bought him??
I thought dads were supposed to be harder on their sons?? I never had it this good, when I lived there...
I was told go to college or get out... and got no financial help from them whatsoever!

my brothers offer was accepted- $455K
it just amazes me that he doesn't show enough income to buy a car- but he thinks he is buying a house
and his FW wife- who is no dumby- graduated from Lehigh with a 3.9 GPA- goes along with this!

- which makes me wonder why he has been taking my Dad's money for rent
