Re: Anyone NOT getting an Epidural?

I had one with my son and had a great experience with the epi & the delivery. My daughter was breech and a c/s so it was a different story. If I VBAC with this baby, I will definitely get another epi.

This is my first baby - and i don't know what to expect. Im certaintly not going to rule out the epidural if the pain is too much for me.

Re: Anyone NOT getting an Epidural?

I got one and I was so glad I did.....once they broke my water the contractions were unbearable and I was on the verge of tears. After it, I didn't feel a darned thing...they had to TELL me it was time to push and I didn't even know she was coming out.

Re: Anyone NOT getting an Epidural?

i have a high threshold for pain as i had kidney stones twice in the last 6 years, i didnt even know my water broke just thought it was the remaining mucus plug and i labored at home till i was 3-4 minutes apart and contractions lasting for 1 minute. when i got to the hospital i was already 4 cm dialated and said i wanted to wait for the doctor to check me to see how far along i was didnt want the epidural until i was far enough along so i didnt haveto sit in bed. arrived at hospital at 8pm got epidural at 9 felt like a million bucks after that and by 10pm i was already 7 cm and could talk through the contractions. i think the epi made my experience even better, it did not affect the baby and i have to say it was a great experience, if i did it without drugs i think my story would be quite different.

Re: Anyone NOT getting an Epidural?

I don't think it has to do with being a hero.
I think that each women needs to research and understand the pros and cons of epidurals. I believe they increase a women's chance of a c/s birth.
If I ever have another child by birth I will not get one..I will do everything I can to make sure I VBAC.
