Re: Vaginal vs C-Section Birth

I would never allow a doctor to cut my baby out of me again unless it was for a true medical emergency or my baby could not survive labor due to a health related issue.
My c/s experience caused me more emotional and physical pain that I care to get into again. I needed a 2nd surgery for scar tissue that caused me severe pain and stopped my sex life for nearly a year. And to this day I still have an issue from an allergic reaction I got during my c/s.
I was in therapy for months and had the darkest time of my life for a year.
But truthfully, 99% of the women on this board know my experience and my feelings on the subject.
With all of the said, I believe in women's right to make an informed medical decision over their bodies. As long as a women is FULLY informed of the risks of a c/s (and there was a TON of risks that I was never talked to about) then she should have the right to do what is best for her.

editted to add: I know many women who had v-births are were NOT cut at all. I know many women who think major surgery is much more stressful than a v-birth.

Re: Vaginal vs C-Section Birth

Ok- my exp was with a c-sect. and to be honest it was wonderful...

But when it comes time for baby #2 I often think about VBAC- but for no other reason, than the experience!

I healed nicely, and since mine was planned... I never felt any pain... it was a great experience!

When I get preg again- My Dr and I will discuss the risks of VBAC and what we think is the right decision for me...

Truthfully- Im not sure you could "choose" to have a C-section, but if in the end you are told you need one, or need to make a decision as of to have one, please know- that many have had great exp.

V Birth and I had a wonderful recovery. Was up walking around that night and didn't have much pain at all.....maybe took Motrin once. My milk coming in hurt more.

Re: Vaginal vs C-Section Birth

I had a vbirth with my first child and had a wonderful experience. #2 was a c-section b/c she was breech. I was hoping to have a VBAC with #3 but he was also breech. If I had the choice, I would, hands down, pick a vbirth. BUT...like I said, I had a wonderful experience. With both my c/s, I ended up with painful gas a day or 2 following the c/s and it was truly the 2 most painful experiences of my life. Many women dont get it, but I did both times and while the memory does fade, its not something I would ever wish on anyone. The recovery with the c/s was definitely much easier the second time around, Im not sure why considering I now had 2 kids and a newborn to deal with but I was grateful nonetheless.

I guess i am one of those rare ladies that had a c-section and loved it.

me too! DD was breech so it was planned. I had a very easy recovery and I think the 5 days in the hospital really helped me with BF.

The biggest con for me was missing out on labor and the experience of women from the beginning of time- but as far as the actua experience, it was great.

Re: Vaginal vs C-Section Birth

I had a vaginal birth and I would want it that way again. It really wasnt as bad as i had thought it would be and the recovery was quick.

I would choose the vaginal, only because Im havinh twins and know I will be more sore with a c-section and will be difficult to handle both with a sore tummy.

Me too.

I had a c/s because an induction didn't work (and eventually lowered baby heart rate)

I don't want to go through surgery again, no way.

I had c/s and felt cheated the day of the birth and the day after. I could barely hold my daughter without screaming in pain.

I am scheduling a c/s for my 39th week, but spoke to my dr. already about a VBAC. I am hoping to go into labor before the section and have the baby vaginally!
