OMG! Who is watching Dr. Phil right now??
There is a guy on there who is 45 yrs. old and he is engaged to a 17 1/2 year old. The guy has a son who is 17! What a freak! Apparently, his state is one of the few where the age of consent for marriage is 16. 
I am so completely floored right now.., I have no words for this.

Yeah, I guess so. It's not like she is 30 and he is 60, in that case she would be an adult. Plus, when the age difference is so HUGE, I do feel it is a little bizarre but hey to each their own if they are both mature adults. I personally think it would be like having sex with an old man  , but that is just me.
JMO, but she is a child; she is not 18. I guess I am floored that there are states that would let a 45yr old marry a child (ahem) a 17 year old.
ETA: Don't you find it disturbing??? What would you do if that was your daughter? I would think her "boyfriend"  was a pedophile.

she is not a child...in 6 months she will be able to vote and even be in college. At that point in your life you are able to make decisions on how to live your life...IMO

she is not a child...in 6 months she will be able to vote and even be in college. At that point in your life you are able to make decisions on how to live your life...IMO
They started dating when she was 16. I disagree, I feel that at 16, she is a child.

I too am disturbed by the fact that a 45 yr old would want to marry a 17 and vice versa. I am however curious. For those that said it should be illegal because she is so young and not mature enough to make her own decisions, do you think that anyone of that age should not be allowed to get married no matter the age of the partner?
