I should have listened to the general consensus. Got my NEW VW Passat last Thursday and it is already in the shop!!!

Unfortunately, VW's have a history of Engine lights being turned on.
Mine would always come on and my brother's VW would also come on. I had an older VW and my brother had a newer one....they ended up exchanging his car.

I used to work with Lemon Law arbitration....and I believe from what I remember is that there has to be 4 work orders for the same problem. Make sure you get receipts of the work orders describing the work done.
ETA: YOu have to contact the Attorney General to file a complaint. Here is the form but hopefully, you don't need it. I am trying to locate the law.

i have a nissan and had a problem with the gas tank gauge not working.
they have to have the chance to fix the car for the same problem three times, so it has to break 4 times.
of course mine was fixed after the third time! (two brandnew dashboard clusters later!!)
