Marriage is def. harder. There are bigger decisions to make and more pressure..when you add in buying a home together making decisions about money together and kids!

But I think you get better at it as time goes on.

IMO it's harder than I thought it would be. In the beginning it was all about hanging out & doing whatever we wanted and after we had Marissa things got a bit harder. But overall it's a work in progress. Chat Icon

Right now it is easier than I thought it would be, we will see if that changes when we close on our house.

We were together 7 years before we got married, and lived together for two. It was a pretty easy transition. We don't have children, and I woud imagine my answer would change if we did.

Same boat as you. Together for 7, lived together 4, with no children. So far, marriage has been very easy with little change to no our relationship. Funny thing is, since we've been married I've noticed we're a lot happier. Chat Icon

I've always heard the saying "marriage is hard work" or "relationships are hard work".

to be perfectly honest, our relationship is very little work, if any. I never thought it could be this easy! not based on my previous relationships anyway.

he truly is my perfect match! Chat Icon Chat Icon

ETA: Just want to add that we don't own a home yet or have kids.... so I'm sure once those situations change, it will be more challenging.

Marriage is so much easier than the last few months before we got married. We were so stressed out over so many things that I didn't think we'd make it.

I am amazed that even though we were single for 37-39 years, that we could adapt so well. There's certainly give and take, but we're doing really well so far Chat Icon

ETA: Most of the problems we experienced were when we moved into our house, 5 months before the wedding. Money, renovation decisions etc., caused many disagreements.

Marriage for us is much easier than dating. But we also lived together and learned to compromise space and time for 3 years before we got married. We'll be havinga baby in October, so I let you know then if I've changed my mind. Chat Icon

I think that the marriage part is easy what I think is the hardest part is having to deal with and accept what comes along with accepting an entirely new family. I'm still adjusting to that part.

I'm sorry to say this, but yes, it is harder.

I would have to say harder since we were only married a month when we bought a house and then got pregant so we had a lot on our plate at once.

So far, it's been easy. We just gel together so nicely and easily.
However, we we don't yet have a house (although we are closing on Monday on our townhouse) and we don't yet have kids. Once our life extends beyond coming and going as we please, and just plain hanging out...my view of how difficult marriage can be might change!

Re: For those who are married: Is Marriage Harder or Easier than you thought it would be?

As of right now, marriage is easier than I thought. We lived together for almost 2 years before we were married, so this really helped. At this point, it's just the 2 of us. I think once we have children and buy a house it will be harder. However, we compromise pretty well and are able to let go of little things.
