I really like it. But I'm partial - I currently have the same cut. 
I want to get mine angled in the front but I'm worried about the same thing you are - not being able to pull it back.
I train the bottom to flip out instead of in. I hated it at first but it's grown on me. You'll get used to it not touching your shoulders, and it will start to bother you when it does!

I think it looks great but I am like you I never like a haircut when I first get it. I just got long bangs on Fri and I am hating them. I am not used to having hair on my face.
