Well at least you admit to stealing! Chat Icon
This is our 1st cycle with IVF. Given that I have no reproductive issues (DH's sperm is the problem), we're hoping that next month I'll be PG! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: IVF Girls!

Darren and I are trying to figure out if we will stop treatments at the end of the year or whether we will start the adoption process or if we will move on to IVF. Darren's sister and I were talking yesterday and we were talking about perhaps splitting a cycle (cost wise) and that she would get half of eggs....so I guess that's the main topic on the table to work through right now.
Lisa...I hope you don't mind a bazillion questions.

Re: IVF Girls!

DH and I are trying to figure out if we should waste anymore time with IUI (since the first 3 didn't work) and go straight to IVF. We are torn....because our insurance covers 3 more cycles of IUI...so, part of me says, try the injectables (rather than just clomid) and use the insurance....where IVF is not covered at all. But...I don't think I want to "waste" 3 more months of trying something that won't work....despite the cost.

When/if we decide the IVF route....I'm sure I'll have questions.

Re: IVF Girls!

I should be joining you ladies shortly. I am waiting to have more CD3 bloodwork done, they are checking for Inhibin B (sp?) since I have issues with my eggs, the dr. says my FH (14) is too high for my age (34)

Like Kim is doing I was told to try a course of IUI with clomid, then move on to injectables and IUI but I don't want to waste any time or money. My odds of a viable pregnancy with IUI are similar to conceiving naturally(and we all know how well that is going Chat Icon )

I'm very anxious about IVF, I think I'm most afraid of the needles but I've been following so many of you that do self inject that I think it will be ok.

For any of you ladies is your IVF covered? Insurance stops paying once I'm diagnosed infertile Chat Icon

Good luck to all of us!

Hi Ladies!

Well as for me, I'm recovering from the early miscarriage from my last IVF in June. We decided to not even think about TTC over the summer. I'm feeling emotionally stronger now and am pretty sure we will go for IVF #3 in September. Fortunately, DH's insurance covers everything with a $50,000 lifetime cap.

Ladies who are doing/have done this. Without too much attention to detail can you please tell me how you are affording this?

It's not easy Chat Icon

$$ came from our house/baby fund (how ironic), and my parents helped too.

I'm not sure what will happen now that we bought a house though...this might be our last try Chat Icon

Thanks Diane Chat Icon

We have talked a little about adoption. DH was originally against it, but just recently brought up adopting a little girl from China.

I'm teetering on the edge. Right now, TO ME, talking about adoption is like saying that I am a failure Chat Icon ,and I am not ready for that yet...I still feel like its very important for me to have a biological child. I WANT to be pregnant.

I give SO much credit to the people that adopt, I am just not there yet.

I totally understand your feelings about adoption - I haven't crossed that bridge yet, still have to try IVF but I think if/when it ever gets to that point that DH & I want to be parents and have a family so whatever is going to accomplish that for us is what we'll do.

We will be paying out of pocket for everything (including medication, dr. mentioned it should run about $14,000). Most offices have finance plans and I've seen on the internet that many credit card companies offer financing also (Capital One, MBNA) just for fertility treatments.
I know it's going to be expensive but we paid more for our wedding day and that only lasted 8 hours Chat Icon

Re: IVF Girls!

Updates anyone?
I'm up to 3 injections a day Chat Icon
Follistim in the morning and evening and HCG in the evening. It hasn't been too bad. The first night that I had to get 2 injections I almost passed out Chat Icon
But I've been fine since then. I'm on monitoring now - every couple of days I go in to get a sono and bloodwork.
Everything is looking good so far Chat Icon

Good luck girls! Chat Icon

Is 20 units low? I have no clue! Chat Icon
They just dropped by follistim dosage today, but I'm still doing the 20 units of diluted HCG.

Oh, and I just had to add - this morning when the doctor was doing my sono, he's like, "I'm going to have to push down a little on your abdomen so I can see your ovary better - your bowels are in the way". Nice! Yeah, that must've been my Thai beef salad from last night. All that roughage! Chat Icon
